Anthillhacks Invitation

Dec 7th to the 20th : https://anthillhacks.in

Winter is here and so is AnthillHacks, the second edition of the winter school atop Devarayanadurga.

We wish for an experience of hacking cultures
at a location that brings together technology, ecology,
storytelling, games, networking and natural ecosystems. We wish
for spaces to hold us all - the young, the low-literate, the postmodern,
the non-binary, the teacher and the playful. And we wish that you come.

What to expect

In addition to the opening up of the space for creative activities
for all, we highlight Gender, Community Mesh and Storytelling as
significant themes.

By Gender, we call for groups to hold spaces for women and non-binary, indigenous folks and eco-feminism, storytelling and inclusive
rituals / walks / activities intensifying on 11th and the 12th.

The full moon evening of 12th brings city artists and traditional rural groups with performances all night.

By Community Mesh, we mean to start with capacity building of the wifi
mesh activities and deploying them in a few locations around. With
decentralization as the underlying theme, we call for discussions
and deployment of services on local servers where Internet is not a given.
We will have experimental deployment of mesh-radio using Raspberry Pis with tools that could help communities develop local hypermedia archives.

By Storytelling, we mean both the technologies and acts of
storytelling and the processes that help bridge the two. Design for
including the low-literate communities will be in our frames and about
bringing out individual expressions and community voice.

We will update the schedule every few days. Two weeks can be linearly seen as:

  1. Build days - co-learning, workshops and deployments,
  2. Networking and co-working - art, music, games and storytelling,
  3. Seminars and exchanges - parallel activities of meetings, and
  4. Dissemination - engage with large number of locals and students.

Logistics

There will be an active kitchen, some sharable large tents and even
rooms with attached bathrooms on the terraces of a charming hillside.
Of course you can bring your tent, make your space too!

You can use Public transportation all the way or for most part.
Closer to the dates, we will co-ordinate ride-shares.
Don't let it stop you if none of these options work because we can pick you from Tumkur or Kyatsandra.
