# Collaborative translation project, Taiwanese historical texts

**About**
This is a new project to help promote collaborative translation of Taiwanese texts, currently focusing on Mandarin-to-English translation. We are currently working ont the DPP charter as our first project. If you would like to help out with the translation, please get involved!

This project is open to anyone able to carry out Mandarin-to-English translation, you do not need to be a professional translator or have translation experience. We will edit all final texts before final release.

This is currenlty an independent project, but we are looking to connect with other translation and archiving projects.

**How do I get involved?**
To collaboratively translate texts, we have set up a signup sheet for each text. Please place your name next to the section of the text you will translate. We are based in the g0v slack #translate channel, [please sign up to g0v slack](https://g0v-tw.slack.com/join/shared_invite/zt-qjl2m8bb-3thBbec_wWqIVbxbF8ck8g) to join the conversation.

**I don't know how to translate but this is cool!**

## FAQ's (that no one has asked)
#### 1) how does the editing process work?
Currently, Brian Hioe has offered to work on the final edit of the translation. We can redesign editing mechanisms in the future
#### 2) who cofounded this project?
This project started from Shen-yi Liao's tweet and was cofounded by Shen-yi Liao, Brian Hioe and Sam Robbins. All are welcome to join.
#### 3) why are you starting with the DPP charter?
we gotta start somewhere! This is a project for all texts of historical importance. We will develop mechanisms surrounding chosing texts if needs be in the future.
