# Modernizing the Criminal Code Act
An Act to amend the Criminal Code (unconstitutional and outdated provisions)
> This enactment removes unconstitutional and outdated provisions or portions from the Criminal Code, specifically repealing the following offences:
> (a) duelling (outdated);
> (b) spreading false news (unconstitutional);
> (c\) constructive murder (unconstitutional);
> (d) offences regarding towing a person on water-skis etc. (outdated);
> (e) abortion (unconstitutional)
> (f) pretending to practise witchcraft, etc. (outdated);
> (g) offences regarding trading stamps (outdated);
> (h) having clippings etc (outdated).

*Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:*
##### Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the *Modernizing the Criminal Code Act, 2017*.
##### Duelling
2. Section 71 of the Criminal Code is repealed.
##### Spreading false news
3. Section 181 is repealed.
##### Constructive murder
4. Section 230 is repealed.
##### Towing a person
5. Section 250 is repealed.
##### Procuring miscarriage
6. Section 287 is repealed.
##### Pretending to practise witchcraft, etc.
7. Section 365 is repealed.
##### Trading stamps
8. Section 427 is repealed.
##### Having clippings, etc.
9. Section 451 is repealed.
##### Coming into force
10. This Act comes into force on the day it received Royal Assent.
