## VII. Decentralization (computers)
> We minimize centralization across both the software and the organization itself. In other words, we maximize the number of physical computers composing the network, and maximize the number of individuals who have control over the system(s) we are building.
---
## Litmus test
- Everything from previous hour applies
- Can we shut down cluster and everything just works?
---
## Stronger network with more nodes
- Ethereum network
- E.g. Whisper spec not EIP, geth/parity running different versions, PoW
- Strength in network more robust
- We can measure and optimize for this
---
## decentralization, inclusivity
- People want to run nodes and help out if it is easy
- Not replacement for $ but it kickstarts it
- Beware mental transaction costs for micropayments
---
## (decentralization, continuance)
- Ethereum ongoing debate re full nodes incentives
- Whisper nodes e.g. no incentives
- We can do a lot more here
- -- especially at Ethereum level
- Inspiration from Ethereum 2.0 incentive design
- -- staking, slashing conditions, game theory, etc
- Also subscriptions and EIPs
---
## Pairing and wall of shame
Up to you.
