The latest product updates have dropped: PDF exports and one-time password (OTP)! 📄

Developers are always on the lookout for ways to enhance their workflows, refine their skills, and collaborate more effectively with their teams. So today, we’re introducing our latest updates designed to make your HackMD experience smoother than ever.

PDF export improvements

We know how important it is to have your documents look just as great on paper as they do on screen. With our enhanced PDF export feature, all Markdown elements, including UML diagrams and LaTeX formulas, are rendered flawlessly.

We know your creative process doesn’t always unfold in front of a computer screen. Or that you may need to submit your docs as PDFs. And whether you’re brainstorming on the go, preparing a report, submitting research for publication, or anything in between, you need tools that are as flexible and dynamic as you are. With the improved PDF export, you can trust that your documents will maintain their formatting and clarity wherever you take them.

At the moment, this feature is on a limited trial basis. During this period, all users can try out the new PDF export. After the trial, it will become a premium feature available exclusively to our Prime plan subscribers.

If you’re not a Prime subscriber yet, consider upgrading to enjoy this and other premium features.

One-time password (OTP) flexibility

We’ve heard your feedback and have made significant improvements to our OTP system. Now, if you’re ever blocked by reCAPTCHA, you can receive a one-time password via email. Simply enter the correct OTP to log in smoothly, even after being initially blocked.

To take advantage of this feature, make sure you’ve added an email and password in your account settings. This way, if you get locked out by reCAPTCHA, you’ll be able to regain access quickly and easily.

Additional updates and fixes

Our team has been hard at work not only on new features but also on refining the existing ones. Here are some of the improvements and fixes we’ve implemented:

  • Improved offline detection and handling: We’ve made several enhancements to how HackMD detects when you’re offline and handles the transition back to being online, ensuring a smoother user experience.
  • Keyboard shortcut fix: We’ve fixed an issue where keyboard shortcuts could be triggered while editing comments. Now, you can edit comments without unexpected interruptions.
  • Pseudocode block rendering: A bug that caused line numbers in pseudocode blocks to render incorrectly has been fixed. Special thanks to Patrick O’Grady for reporting this issue.

We hope these updates enhance your HackMD experience. As always, we value your feedback and are committed to continually improving our platform. If you have any suggestions or encounter any issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@hackmd.io or in our Discord. 💜
