# Heretic V3 In my heretic rework I aim to both streamline the way heretic works, remove sidepaths in favour of more maintainable mechanics as well as increasing the possibility for unique abilities while merging the few abilities that are really similliar to eachother. To acomplish this the first change of heretics V3 will be the total removal of sidepaths in favour of different mechanic, this mechanic will be detailed below. ## Changes ### Research tiers Current sidepaths will now be divided into research pools that every path will be able to research upon reaching the necessary tier of knowledge. Each path will also have a unique ability/abilities that belong to this tier and can only be researched by this path. ### Major/Minor Arcana Because the removal of sidepaths would by necessity restrict the creativity of mixing and matching of sidepaths, an alternative solution to sidepathing has been envisioned. This takes form of Major/Minor Arcana, Major Arcana being the main path from which you progress. Minor Arcana however is a "secondary" path you take, gaining that paths T1,T2 and T3 unique abilities. T1,T2,T3 unique abilities are *different* than path unqiue abiltiies you gain upon reaching the ritual of knowledge / mark upgrade and those will be unable to be reached by the minor arcana. This both creates restrictions on heretic while also increasing the creative potential, as you are no longer able to simply get all the knowledge you may need, choosing your Major/Minor Arcana carefully becomes vitally important. ## Potential changes on which im still working on ### Ascension changes Ascensions would now be locked to one per round, additionally when ascending you'd get a thematic cutscene ### Sacrifice minigame changes Upon being sacrificed you'd be teleported to a Z-level spanning labyrinth filled with monsters, upon escaping out of it you'd be teleported safely onto the station, otherwise your corpse would be randomly dropped somewhere in maintenance. ### Ritual circle changes Ritual circle would now have 3 tiers which you'd have to upgrade to get access to more powerful rituals. The lowest tier circle would be 1x1, midtier would be 3x3 and the most powerful circle required for ascension and other tasks would be 5x5 ### Eldritch contacts Heretics could access powerful entities and temporarily bind them to the waking world, they'd be able to talk with them and offer them something in exchange for power (ability to ascend, ability to make blades, max health etc.)
