#FoodStorage #Freezer1 Keep the freezer at 0F/-18C. Uncooked poultry and meat can stay for a year depending on the cut. Raw meat and poultry maintain their quality longer than their cooked counterparts because moisture is lost during cooking so its better to cook as you go to preserve quality.

#FoodStorage #Freezer2 Commercial food guidelines suggest bacon and sausage 1-2 months. Roasts, steaks and chops 4-12 months, ground and giblets 3-4 months, wild game 8-12 months. Eggs can be frozen but not in their shell. Frozen egg yolk will have a different consistency than fresh and may act differently in blending and baking. Frozen bread stays its best for 3-6 months, keep on the door which is the warmest part of the freezer.

#FoodStorage #Countertop2 While we don’t anticipate current COVID19 related stay at home measures to last until summer, we would be remiss without mentioning pineapples which if you dare to cut yourself should be kept on the countertop while whole but refrigerated when cut. Cut pineapple may be frozen but the texture will change significantly when the frozen juice expands and bursts cell walls. Apples last roughly a week on the counter, three weeks in a pantry but up to six weeks refrigerated.
