###### tags: `clab` # Introduction to Mecoda-orange ## How to access SmartCityzen platform data Interfacing the data from SmartCitizen kits can be done in several ways. - If you're offline you can use the data from your SDCard data in .csv format directly. - [The data is available to download from the platform in .csv format](https://docs.smartcitizen.me/Guides/getting%20started/Downloading%20the%20Data/) - [Thre is available a python API called scdata](https://pypi.org/project/scdata/) - [There is available a REST API to use and develop](https://developer.smartcitizen.me/#summary) - [There is a mecoda-orange widget/library also in python](https://pypi.org/project/Mecoda-Orange/) The ultimate purpose of the framework is to allow for reproducible research by providing a set of tools that can be replicable, and expandable among researchers and users alike, contributing to [FAIR data principles](https://www.nature.com/articles/sdata201618). ![](https://i.imgur.com/LufHjsm.png) By [SangyaPundir](https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:SangyaPundir&action=edit&redlink=1) - Own work, [CC BY-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0) ## Mecoda-orange It has been developed a library inside [Mecoda](https://cos4cloud-eosc.eu/services/mecoda-data-analysis-package/). MECODA (ModulE for Citizen Observatory Data Analysis) is a repository to **facilitate analysing and viewing all sorts of citizen science data**. This service aims to break the barrier between experienced users or programmers and the general public. It allows users from citizen observatories to make their own exploratory visual data analysis without the help of specialised analysts. It also enables observers to create their own reproducible visual dataflows and share and reuse them.  ![](https://i.imgur.com/rRm0iLO.png) It has been chosen because their principles are aligned with the [FAIR data principles](https://www.nature.com/articles/sdata201618). * Repository of MECODA https://github.com/eosc-cos4cloud/mecoda-orange * The full explanation on the functionality of the plug-in is here https://docs.smartcitizen.me/Guides/data/Orange%20Data%20Widgets/ ## Orange data mining ![](https://i.imgur.com/GZx1klO.png) Also MECODA is integrated with [Orange Data Mining](https://orangedatamining.com) a software that works with visual programming in an easy way to analyse data from SmartCitizen and other sources. ![](https://i.imgur.com/lOAACyN.png) Using time-series extension and geo extension it's fairly easy to plot results. Here you can find [a couple](https://docs.smartcitizen.me/Resources/Tutorials/Simple%20Orange%20Workflow/) of [examples](https://docs.smartcitizen.me/Resources/Tutorials/Orange%20and%20geolocated%20data/). ![](https://i.imgur.com/aknjWPw.png)
