# Grant proposal Solana
Hi, folks!
We are web3swift[^1] framework maintainers — the most spread Ethereum clients framework available[^2] — and we're reaching you to propose to add a Solana integration.
Actually our goal, that we've set out for ourselves to ourselves is to become the only crypto framework on iOS, similar to what Unity does in far past with iOS gaming engine.
So let me elaborate our purpose a bit further.
We've released our new major version 3.0.0 in which we were focused on bringing both consistency, reliability and best swift practices within us. And we think we've made it well. We've brought the following:
- full in depth async/await support for any async task across all lib,
- all networks handlers are built above generic types,
- clear, consistent and less error prone public APIs.
Really don't know if this means something to you, but believe me it is for tenth of iOS crypto developers that've reached with greeting and bug fixes after release so far (I hear myself, yep, iOS crypto market isn't the largest one on Earth).
So with no shame we may state that currently our lib out of reach at all of that among the others:
- API quality,
- API "swiftness" (believe me iOS devs love that),
- level of contribution activity.
Not to mention that we were the most popular such framework even before our last release.
So with all of this we come to you to propose you to bring Solana support into us whether it would be a module or a new library version to all our loved iOS costumers.
Let me push it a bit further. I myself see a lack of any iOS crypto app beyond Ethereum and custodial one. Like if you wan't to get noncustodial wallet to store some Eth you're able to choose from dozens of those, but if you're about Solana, Near, Polka you name it, there's only few of them within reach, with Safe the usable one actually.
Leaving out of scope the each chains share market which is definitely on the side of Ethereum one I see that any other chains just doesn't has any tools to let them be used to bring indie devs in the game, and I see an opportunity right here.
And last but not least, as we are non commercial team and we made no profit from this lib, we're pushing our framework by the grants fuel. Our last major release was granted by Ethereum foundation (very grateful to them btw). So while we actually do not require funding for the maintenance of our framework, we just want to push it further. And a Solana integration is exactly for that case..
