# Over 3.7 million farmer IDs created so far under 'AgriStack' project: Govt

As of December 5, 2024, a total of 2,999,306 Farmer IDs have been created under the 'AgriStack' project. This initiative is a key component of the Digital Agriculture Mission, which aims to create a digital ecosystem for agriculture in India.

The AgriStack project consists of three foundational registries: the Farmers' Registry, Geo-referenced village maps, and the Crop Sown Registry. These registries are created and maintained by the State Governments/Union Territories. The Government of India provides administrative and technical support for the implementation of the Mission.

In addition to the creation of Farmer IDs, the Digital Crop Survey (DCS) has been undertaken in 436 districts in Kharif 2024. This survey aims to provide accurate and timely information on crop sowing, which can be used for various purposes such as planning and policy making.

The AgriStack project is expected to improve the delivery of government benefits and schemes to farmers, as well as facilitate better access to credit, inputs, and markets. It will also enable more efficient and targeted agricultural interventions.
