# NEM Twitter Account Community Sentiment Report

We recently [conducted a poll](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jSNfdH-qQbd-Zv9npPoml2Awr6E8ghe-3N9eY94xAM4/viewanalytics?pli=1&pli=1) for the collection of community sentiment regarding how the @NEMOfficial twitter account should be use to represent the project.

* **TLDR: We should rename the @NEMOfficial account to @Symbol, or similar.**

The poll has been open and accepting responses for 12 days.
The poll was broadcast throughout the NEM and Symbol media channels, including: Twitter, Discord, Telegram, in addition to numerous community run sources.

We have received a total of 232 submissions before closing the poll Sept 29th.

### Community Comments

In this questionnaire, we included a text box for the community to better explain their views, and articulate additional feedback. Of these written submissions, five are included in this summary.

These responses give clarity of reason as to why different individuals within the community support differing viewpoints.

### How Important is this topic to the Community?

On a scale of 1 to 10, over half of respondents selected a 10, and over 1/3 selected an 8 or 9, equating to a total of over 85% of respondents expressing that they feel strongly about how our twitter accounts should be used.


### Conclusion
With 64%+ of respondents showing support for Option B, and 85%+ of respondents expressing the importance of this issue, there has been overwhelming support for renaming and rebranding the @NEMOfficial account.

The community hopes these actions will:
1. Provide brand & technical clarity between Symbol and it's subchains.
2. Emphasize the importance of Symbol as the Main Chain.
3. Carry existing NEM followers into the Symbol heirarchy.
4. Maximize exposure to Symbol.

**Note:** As a community, we can't *expect* that the team is able to reserve the @Symbol twitter handle, but we can encourage them to *try*, and if unable, then choose a "second best" - A handle that reasonably supports the community desire.
