# Token Payment

## What is Token Payment?

**Token payment** is the debiting of funds from the client's card without re-entering the card details. Partner gets a unique card token during the first client payment for goods/services on the website. In subsequent transactions, the client does not need to re-fill the card details. For the operation execution, it is enough to transmit the card token in the request. The token is stored on the Operator's server.

For payments by card token, the Partner must have a confirmed [PCI DSS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payment_Card_Industry_Data_Security_Standard) (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) certificate of the appropriate level, depending on the number of operations per year.

## Card tokenization

Card tokenization takes place in two cases:

1. By paying via [Checkout](https://hackmd.io/B7V3CnG2QUKI6Qr820GHkA) plus with the card tokenization option enabled on the Operator's side. After successful payment, the Partner gets the client's card token in the "pay" request with `card_token` parameter.
2. By calling Operator's [frame](https://hackmd.io/E9WaRxogSAqH6siPG0ovjA) for the client entering card data, that is tokenized and stored on the Operator server.
