# State of the Raid :fire: May 2023
Once upon a Bull Market…
So there we were, deep in the depths of the pandemic lockdowns, with DeFi summer upon us.

As one of the first service DAOs, it was pretty much just Raid Guild, and a handful of others, doing any sort of reliable Web3 development, and we were all overwhelmed with demand.
In that wild time as much of the world was just grasping the concept of liquidity pools - we were akin to a two sided marketplace, balancing the client demand with our supply of talented devs.
One quick realization set in: Raid Guild needed more members to build for our increasing number of clients!
We also realized a deep need to share a few of our guiding principles, like our enjoyment of self sovereignty, while working on the cutting edge of the newest technologies, and solving the challenges of human coordination, Moloch be damned.
All organizations understand the challenges of recruitment - and in the clutches of that prior Bull cycle, we not only had overwhelming demand on the client side to keep up with, but also an impressively long line of applicants wanting to join the Guild.
This served as a forcing function to consider how a DAO qualifies talent (especially if some of that talent is anonymous) and onboard a large number of people, not just into Web3, but also into a decentralized and autonomous service based organization?
### The RaidGuild Apprentice Cohort, season0 was born as an experiment to address these issues.
From all across the globe, with various skills and talents, apprentices meet in the Raid Guild Discord. Do you remember your first time hearing taekekz listen to every single person introduce themself at the info sesh? Do you remember the anticipation to try your hands at a pair of battle axes?
The cohort entices apprentices down a pathway, with challenges at intervals along the way. It’s not intended to be clearly prescribed tasks, but more like goal posts, tools, ingenuity, creativity and cooperation.
It gives you the opportunity to see what you can produce when no one tells you what to do, and the challenge to motivate a team when they aren’t required to comply. You also get access to a network that includes [MetaCartel](https://www.metacartel.org/), [DAOhaus](https://daohaus.club/), [MetaGame](https://twitter.com/MetaFam/), [LexDAO](https://twitter.com/lex_DAO), [Buidl Guidl](https://buidlguidl.com/) and more.
In 2020, season0 was a response to an immediate need for more developers and designers. Since then, we’ve seen many apprentices and members go on to contribute and found projects throughout our expanding ecosystem.
This June, Raid Guild will begin the 7th iteration of the Apprentice Cohort, season6. The attraction for many is potential membership in Raid Guild, although the benefits extend well beyond that.
While we look forward to welcoming new members to Raid Guild, Season 6 Apprentices that are brought onto teams outside of the Guild will be ready for collaborative and remote work, innovating with the newest Web3 tech.
Just like past cohorts that were scheduled around events like EthDenver, this Cohort is scheduled right before EthCC and [MetaFest](https://metafest.wtf/). While Raid Guild works remotely, we all recognize the enormous value of meeting IRL. If you’re in Europe this summer, we look forward to meeting.
Our mission is to foster the next generation of Web3 pioneers, settlers, and explorers. The Raid Guild cohort-based approach aims to onboard a rich ecosystem of talented individuals in a uniquely collaborative way.
If you're ready to start your Raid Guild Apprentice journey, head over to the [Join Us](https://www.raidguild.org/join/1) page and complete your application! Or if you know somebody that might find some value in learning more, please forward this note to them ASAP. Invitations to the info sesh are out now!

### See you at MetaFest and ETHCC!

# The Epic Tale of the Raid :fire: May 2023
Gather around, valiant adventurers, for I bring a tale from the time of a mighty Bull Market...
In the deep, dark depths of the pandemic lockdowns, a peculiar summer unfolded in the realm of DeFi, a season that made our once quiet hamlet buzz with an uncanny energy.
In those days, RaidGuild and a brave few were the torchbearers of service DAOs, battling on the frontlines of Web3 development. Our quest was great, and the call for our skills echoed across the realm. The demand for our services became a dragon we had to tame.
With our ranks swelling with clients, the Guild soon realized we needed to rally more members under our banner.
Recruitment, a quest often fraught with challenges in any realm, turned into a formidable expedition in the throes of a Bull Market frenzy. The drumbeat of the Guild called to an impressive legion of prospective members, willing and eager to pledge their allegiance. Yet, the task was not straightforward - how does one judge the merit of the anonymous? How does a DAO harness a veritable horde of new recruits, guiding them into the labyrinth of Web3 and into a decentralized, autonomous, service-oriented organization?
Hence, the Raid Guild Apprentice Cohort was forged!
Many a brave soul in the DAO domain has been thrust into the deep end, thrown into treacherous waters with only the faintest hint of taekekz's guiding light. Yet, they persevered, rising to the occasion, learning to tread water and rally their strength. A testament to this is the successful showcasing of # apprentices at our recent Demo Day.
As the sun peaks in June of 2023, the bells of Raid Guild will toll the commencement of the 7th iteration of the Apprentice Cohort. Already, # brave souls have answered the call. For some, the allure lies in the potential membership in Raid Guild, but I assure you, the benefits of this journey reach far and beyond.
The cohort is your portal to a world where you wield the power to shape your destiny, where the only reins are those you hold. It challenges you to rally a troop when allegiance isn't a mandate, it thrusts you into the heart of a network that spans the mystical lands of MetaCartel, DAOhaus, and beyond.
Our first venture into the Apprentice Cohort, dubbed Season 0 in the year 2020, was the Guild's response to an urgent summons for more developers and designers. Today, as I spin this tale, we have seen many a recruit and member journey beyond our realm, contributing to the greater expanse of our ecosystem. The cohorts have become the heart of our entity, pumping life into the ever-pulsating beat of Web3 and DAOs.
Apprentices from Raid Guild, armed with the wisdom of navigating the paradigm shift from the traditional, are warriors primed for collaborative and remote quests.
As it has been, and so it shall be. Season 6 Apprentice Cohort has been scheduled to align with the celestial events of EthCC and MetaFest. Though the Guild may roam the digital realms, we never underestimate the power of forging connections in the physical world. If your journey leads you to Europe this summer, do seek us out.
Recognizing that many of our apprentices may be called upon to join other quests instead of the Raid Guild, we have tailored Season 6 accordingly. We revel in this diversity of paths. Not every adventurer seeks the life of a freelancer, and some yearn for the stability of employment. If they carry our mission of Slaying Moloch with them, we've triumphed.
If you're ready to take up arms and commence your journey as a Raid Guild Apprentice, brave adventurer, journey forth to the Join Us page and pledge your intentions. The Guild awaits you!
