# Get Apple Photos to re-index Duplicates

The following got the duplicates utility folder to re-appear in Photos for me and to force a re-index.

1. Quite Apple Photos
1. Press Option-Command and double-click the Photos icon in the Applications folder [credit](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6991919?answerId=28059474022&sortBy=rank#28059474022)
1. You get prompted to repair the library, make it so
1. Leave the Mac on charge for a long time, re-indexing will take a while
