# 20220622 WG Govnernance Team Meeting

Phase to gain our intial joint understanding in Sub WGs is at a level that allows and should be consolidated within out WG and then cross other WGs and cross Eco System initatives.

Collection of todos we need to focus on
- Cross DSBC WG questionaire to get feed back. Suggestion is to write a draft doc and ask for feed back instead - as this works well in other WGs.
- Ask for bilateral meeintgs with eco system - initatives
- Consolidate input at DSBC level in a doc, also for Data Space Support Centre
- Agree on future steps: Lars to propose wishlist of tasks for summer period - next meeting for volunteers to sign up to these tasks
- Take below discussion on contract - compensation etc. to Przemek & Roland to decide next steps

Discussion:
- On the link between creating contracts, compensation & tarif models, billing and metering we need to learn from intitiatives where they are from that perspective.
- Info - Charging will be regulated in the future at Data Markets act etc. as a constraint.

Bert referenced https://www.managebt.org (i.e. an open source business management system for technology organizatios) to potentially learn from regarding a governance model, and to check whether they would be willing to help us in working out a more detailed governance handbook for data spaces.

Bert reference the book Data Mesh, by Zhamak Dehghani, published by O'Reilly. Also Pierre references this book frequently. It has a chapter (5) with principles of federated computational governance, very comparable to what Gaia-X is trying to establish. Bert will circulate a chapter summary by next week.

Bert suggests to cross-check the event storming exercise with the Simpl architecture proposal, to make sure we have tackled all the functional building blocks that the EC is conceiving. Or if not, to identify the gaps.

Assessment: Operantional effort and support needs are much higher than expected
