Vì lý tưởng, vì tổ quốc, những người lính đó đã gác lại hạnh phúc riêng tư của chính mình ở phía sau lưng, để tiến tới tiền tuyến. Họ không chỉ phải đối mặt với nhiều kẻ thù tàn bạo, mà còn phải đương đầu với hoàn cảnh sống vô cùng gian khổ. Nơi rừng hoang, cái rét buốt giá của gió núi và của sương đêm đã khiến cho họ phải đau đớn với những cơn sốt đến run người.
