# 2022-03-20 Weekly Meeting ###### tags: `weekly-meeting` ## This week leads Lead: Angel Call for Review!: aweinstock Issues (limit 7): xmac Minutes: Christof ## Topics: ### Reading club Topics?: ### Code Review Session Idea: - Modular weapons with @Sam ### Issues - https://gitlab.com/veloren/veloren/-/issues/1473 - Would be best in RFC format - Would it make more sense for core systems of the game to be enabled/disabled when doing work like this? Such as changing how gravity works for players when they're in this "creative" mode ### MRs - https://gitlab.com/veloren/veloren/-/merge_requests/3055 - Looking for new author - Need to hear back from existing author - https://gitlab.com/veloren/veloren/-/merge_requests/3150 - New author ### RFCs #### Cons - It's inactive - Many existing RFCs have been open for years - There doesn't seem to be a process for moving RFCs from `open` to `accepted` (should this be part of the weekly meetings?) - We don't discuss them in our dev meetings - Would be good if more of leads/core devs had reviewing them as part of their mandate - We don't make it part of the introductory process for new contributors - People don't even know about it - Not easy to see updates - No integration with Discord (aside from #git-updates, which is relatively noisy) - People that are excited about design and sharing ideas don't have an easy way to approach this model #### Pros - Allows us to track history of ideas more concretely - Ensures there's a central repository of design documents - Allows participation in design outside of proprietary platforms #### Ideas - Discord bot features - Thread created on new RFC - Comments synced between the thread and MR? - Weekly meetings - How to better spend our time so that we can go over at least 1 RFC each week? - Expecting people to read/think about the RFC in the past hasn't worked - Timebox more? - Issues can only take 20 mins - MR can only take 10 - RFC takes 15 - Some way to have a rendered form of the RFC easy to access - Some way to integrate into website - When RFCs are updated, they get rendered to the site - Doesn't need to be as reliant on recent-only RFCs - Old ones still need a lot of discussion ## Next week leads Lead: Angel Call for Review!: ubruntu Issues (limit 7): holychowders Minutes: ### Todo agenda: -
