{%hackmd theme-dark %} # Timelines A *timeline* in the Ultraseries is an entire distinct world, a constantly progressing timeline where everything inside of it ages at the same rate when unaltered. Using highly-futuristic technology, pieces of a timeline can be detached, rearranged, and *sprouted* (branched off into new variations of the same timeline). However, pieces of a timeline **cannot** be destroyed. There are an infinite number of timelines. ## Replicas Every single timeline is a *replica* of one another, with each timeline holding individuals and materials exactly similar to every other timeline. The only difference is that the individuals have different personalities and experiences from other *versions* of themselves. Due to the fact that there are an infinite amount of timelines, an individual has an infinite amount of versions of themselves, each one having different memories and behaviors. Similarly, a timeline in comparison to another timeline is called an *alternate timeline.* ### Example: Ultraverse and BFAC Out-of-character, BFAC is a separate server where roleplay is also done. In-character, BFAC coexists as an **alternate timeline** to the Ultraverse. For comparison, both roleplay timelines have Earth as a primary location. They also both include Twenzu as a character, although the two versions don't share the same personality. This is a good example of how alternate timelines work. ### Anomalies There are specific *laws* surrounding timelines, that ensure that things in one timeline do not enter and mix with ANOTHER timeline, which would both **cause disarrangement**, and **threaten the order** of the timelines. One known type of these is a chrono-bluespace anomaly, often caused by malfunctioning equipment, capable of sending structures between timelines. One incident caused the loss of a small Nanotrasen outpost, followed by the disappearance of an intruder into the Megabase.
