# Hackathon ## Step 1: Post your ideas No later than week before the Hackathon, people should have pitched their idea(s) on the `#hackathon` Slack channel. There are no real restrictions as to what an idea should cover as long as it helps bring some kind of new knowledge to the team (have a look at the `#hackathon` channel to see past ideas for inspiration) * People can give a :+1: emote if they like an idea * People can give a  emote if they would like to collaborate on an idea Those are the only two emotes allowed (no :-1: or similar) ## Step 2: Squad up It is possible to work on an idea individually or in a group — as long as the idea has general support (e.g. a thumbs-up/heart emote). Shortly before the Hackathon kicks off, people will start forming up squads based of the emote-feedback and then post their squad goal and composition in the `#hackathon` channel. ## Step 3: Code away The purpose of the Hackathon is for the team to gain new knowledge and to have some fun. It is therefore expcted that people are physically present in the office (if geographically possible, obviously). It is also highly recommended that teams physically team up by going to a separate part of the office and work together. ## Step 4: Present your work/findings By the end of the Hackathon, each squad or individual will have some kind of PoC or findings that can be presented to the rest of the team (this presentation should take around 1 minute per member of the team). ## Step 5: Beer?
