=== autotracking ###### tags: `Grants` # UberHaus Developer Grants Program ## Background and Context DAOhaus (and therefore UberHaus) grows in value the more developers build on top of it. As more DAO tools and platforms emerge in the windup to Hot DAO Summer 2022, developer keyboard-share (aka mindshare) will become scarcer, requiring incentives to attract. Additionally, we've observed that the kinds of things that break through the social media din are less platform- or infrastructure-based than splashy purpose-built or single-use examples. DAOhaus core developers (ie the Warcamp DAO) should focus primarily on building the former, but occasionally members of that DAO will have interesting ideas in the latter category that are worth pursuing. ## Purpose - Attract developers to build on/for the DAOhaus platform and infrastructure - Fund projects that attract new users to DAOhaus without sacrificing core developer time ### What kinds of projects should receive grants? - Open Grants Program + RFP (if there are specific UH/DH needs) ## Implementation - Dedicated Moloch DAO with a minion - UberHaus has virtually all the loot (can ragequit if needed) - but this doesn't actually do anything, since the UH proposal period is so long - maybe better to just keep the funds in a Safe minion that is also controlled by UberHaus - DAO Parameters - 5-20 shareholders (the grants "committee") - 5 day voting, 2 day grace - ragequit is not really a factor, so no need for a long grace. better to give shareholders more time to mobilize against attacks - 1 proposal per day - the idea is to balance ability to distribute funds quickly with a desire for some protection against fund theft - start with 3 month period - Grant Comittee Members - ==TBD== - Grant Application Process 1. Submit a form (ClickUp? On daohaus.club?) 2. Schedule a Discord call with Grants committee (or during one of the weekly calls) 3. Present your grant proposal during call 4. Work on the proposal after Q&A from the call 5. Submit a Funding Proposal (with link to final proposal) for 50% of funds from the GrantsDAO 6. Get funds and start working! 7. Complete project & submit another Funding Proposal for next 50% >* Idea is to refine these proposals before going to the vote (where both the committee and Grantee has the most information to decide / start working) >* Form may not be necessary in first run. If this takes off, we might look at batches / rounds in the future, but now it seems unnecessary. >* 50% of funds given out upfront to be safe - Grant Proposal should include 1. Problem Statement 2. Solution (Technical) 3. Solution (Design/User-facing) 4. Scope 5. Members Involved 6. Any help / "mentor pairing" needed from Warcamp? 7. Timeline 8. Funding Ask - Proposal Assessment Criteria 1. **Problem**: How important is this problem statement? 2. **Solution**: How effective is the proposed solution? 3. **Scope**: How meaningful is the scope in solving the problem? (Depending on the problem, the solution required might be a full-fledged product or just a MVP) 4. **Members**: Is this the right team to execute? 5. **Asks**: Do the asks(funding, manpower, etc.) justify the benefit? ### Funds - $50k in HAUS tokens -- 3,333 HAUS at today's price (~$15 on 9/28/21) - This is pretty arbitrary, so very open to refinement. My current rationale: $10k average for 5 projects feels about right - ideally we'd be able to offer a mix of stables and HAUS, but that relies on an UberHaus treasury diversification, which I suspect will take much more work and time to pull off than we want to wait for this idea. - +5% in reserve to compensate active grant committee members for their contributions - ie $2.5k - use coordinape share progression to measure intersubjective member value-add - collectively, grants DAO shareholders receive 5% of the funds that they disburse over the 3 month period ==> incentive to give out the grants!
