* Attending: Ian Allison, Jim Colliander, Francis Jones, Henryk Modzelewski, Charles Krzysik, Patrick Walls, Phil Austin, Tiffany Timbers, Trevor Campbell, Stephen Michaud, Pan Luo, Sara Harris
### Topics
0) CTLT update
1) building/deploying docker containers
2) nbgrader infrastructure
3) NDRIO white papers
### CTLT update
* Stephen: still hiring -- offers out.
* 2 senior analysts, cloud computing/jupyter mixed.
* Jim: interest in seeing the original job ad -- some possible candidates
### Docker containers
* question -- who is responsible for building a docker container for a hub?
- Stephen -- central hub will handle enterprise-level components (billing, quotas, pod configuration,
authentication), instructors will be responsible for their custom course containers, with common default
environments available.
* question -- how will a container be linked to a course and a cluster?
- TBD -- pulldown menus, but also need to to be able to give a course hub a specific url for
jupyterbook config.
### nbgrader infrastructure
* Trevor/Tiffany -- need support from the server in order to freeze a snapshot
of student notebooks so they can be sent to an autograding server
* Ian -- need to separate generic from course/grader specific
- privacy issues will be important
- Reach out to CPSC 103 instructors to see what they would need from the server,
help define a base set of services
* Separation of concerns
1) scheduling, snapshotting and collection on the server
2) marking on separate autograding hubs -- crucial for TA coordination
### NDRIO
* Jim -- NDRIO https://engagedri.ca/ is soliciting white papers on current issues/future developments for strategic plan priorities 2021-2024. Opportunity to highlight
cluster/cloud/pangeo as a focus. https://engagedri.ca/news/ndrio-call-for-white-papers-on-canadas-future-dri-ecosystem
### Followup
* Next meeting in late January/early February with new hires?
* Stephen to circulate a copy of the ad
* Tiffany to get in touch with CPSC 103 instructors
* Jupyter stories
- Trevor/Tiffany to outline nbgrader workfow with notebook/screencast
- Phil to do the same with jupyterbook, EOAS hubs/containers
- Other volunteers?
