# Delhi AQI Drops Amid Cold Wave, Stricter Anti-Pollution Measures Reinforced
As a cold wave grips Delhi, bringing temperatures down to 6 degrees Celsius, the city's air quality has also deteriorated. The Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 246 on Sunday, placing it in the "poor" category. Several areas, including Anand Vihar, Bawana, and Mundka, recorded AQI levels above 250.  

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has attributed the worsening air quality to the cold weather, which traps pollutants near the ground. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of further temperature drops in the coming days, potentially exacerbating the situation.  

In response to the deteriorating air quality, authorities have implemented stricter anti-pollution measures. These include:  

Increased inspections of industries: To ensure compliance with emission standards.
Enhanced monitoring of construction activities: To minimize dust pollution.
Stricter enforcement of traffic rules: To reduce vehicular emissions.  
Promotion of public transportation: To discourage private vehicle use.
The Delhi government has also urged residents to take precautionary measures, such as avoiding outdoor activities, wearing masks, and keeping windows closed.  

The worsening air quality poses a significant health risk to Delhi's residents, particularly those with respiratory problems. The authorities are urging everyone to cooperate in efforts to improve the city's air quality.
