Hwaseong City held the inaugural ceremony of the Hwaseong City Hall's blind soccer team at the Hwaseong Sports Complex Gyeonggi Town Indoor Gymnasium on the 10th. Chung Jin-wan, chairman of the Korean Sports Association for the Disabled, Chung Myung-geun, chairman of the Hwaseong Sports Association for the Disabled (Hwaseong Mayor), Kim Kyung-hee, chairman of the Hwaseong City Council, and Cho Kyung-hyun, chairman of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, attended the meeting.

Hwaseong City's blind soccer team consists of a total of six players, including coach Lee Jini (35), coach Wi Sung-hee (37), Kim Ja-on (28), Bae Hyun-jin (25), Shin Yoon-chul (34), and Jang Young-jun (35). It plans to recruit four more players in the future. Mayor Chung Myung-geun said, "We will provide various support to create an environment for promoting elite sports for the disabled and to improve athletes' performance, and we will try to develop dreams and hopes through sports so that disabilities do not become obstacles anymore." Jeong Jin-wan, chairman of the Korea Sports Association for the Disabled, responded, "I am thrilled that the first blind soccer team was established in Hwaseong, which ranks first in financial independence in cities and counties across the country," adding, "The Korea Sports Association for the Disabled will actively support athletes of various types of disabilities to train in a more stable training environment."

The blind soccer event was absent because it failed to secure a berth to the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games. It is not easy for visually impaired athletes to train regularly because of their livelihoods
