# Mod Onboarding
This is a rough guide on our moderation tools. Don't hesitate to ask questions relating to the tools we use and what to do.
## 📃 Overview
Our main tools are:
* Discord's built-in AutoMod
* sushii bot
* Modmail
* Common sense
## 🤖 AutoMod
We have 6 AutoMod rules
1. Slurs, trolls, etc
* 1 hour timeout - review the case then in most cases ban.
* Mostly bad slurs and toxic keywords
2. Malicious links
* 1 hour timeout - review the case then in most cases ban.
* Mostly IP grabbers, screamer links, csam etc.
* If you see something that looks like prntscrn in this filter **don't** open it since it is a screamer link.
* **If you see a link ending with `invite/i=` do NOT open it since it contains CSAM (Child sexual abuse material).**
* Ping me @ tzuwy if you want to confirm what a link contains and what to do.
3. New members
* Twice is shit, etc filters
* This only applies to people *without* the **Blink/Once** role.
4. Inappropriate topics
* 5 minute timeout
* Mild nsfw stuff
5. Spam
* Block only
* Discord invites, copypastas, etc.
6. Member profile
* Blocked from sending messages in server
* Mostly bad slurs, toxic and controversial keywords
Once you've dealt with an AutoMod case, do not forget to click on actions and mark it as completed. You can also just simply say you resolved it or react with an emoji.
## 🍣 sushii
Sus member or message? We use sushii for keeping track of mod logs and use it for mod actions (warn, timeout, ban, history, etc)
### Urgent matters (trolls, nsfw, nsfl, etc.)
If it's outright troll, spam, gore, etc. You can immediately right click user > ban to remove them right away from the server.
* Make sure to select the delete messages option for the past hour or day. It is very important to delete messages with disruptive and NSFW content as we do not want members to see them. The default on mobile is set to **Don't delete any** so you need to make sure to select a timeframe. That is not the case on desktop.
* You can either leave the reason blank, or if it's not extremely urgent, you can also set the reason in "other" option. This reason you type will show up in sushii logs.
* You can always set the reason afterwards, so if it's urgent you don't need to bother setting the reason when banning.
### Non-urgent matters
Here are the steps we usually do to determine what action to take for more mild user behavior like being rude or whatnot:
1. Search their messages to see how new of a member they are.
1. Copy their ID then search `from:ID`, e.g. `from:150443906511667200` (if you cannot retrieve the ID, make sure you have Developer Mode enabled)
3. Only a few messages or under few hundred would be pretty new, you can also double check their join date and their member logs (some people leave and re-join all the time)
2. Think about their intention. Did they join just to start conflicts? Or are they a regular member that just happened to say something stupid?
* Quick scan over their messages can determine what kind of member they are and if they're constantly being rude to people. Make sure to understand the context.
3. Not a new member? Check their history and ban info with the slash commands for sushii
* `/history` - shows past moderation history
* `/lookup` - shows bans in other servers
4. Determined there is some action to take?
* `/warn` - this DMs them a warning
* `/timeout` - this DMs them the reason (you can also use native timeout)
* `/ban` - does not dm reason but you have the option to with `dm_reason` option (you can also use native ban if no dm_reason)
## 📬 Modmail
Modmail threads will pop up when someone DMs the modmail bot. You can discuss in modmail threads without them being sent to the user.
To respond anonymously, use `-ar`. You should use this by default, but if you ever have the need to respond in a way that shows your username (rare), you can use `-r`.
Example: `-ar hi you will not be unbanned for being a noob`
Use `-sclose` when the ticket is finished.
Use `-snippets` to see the list of prepared answers based on frequently asked questions.
Use `--<snippetname>` to send a snippet.
## :four_leaf_clover: Good luck!
Feedback is always welcome for adjustments to this doc. Note that this is somewhat shared between two servers, blackpink and twice.
