# Naveen Srinivasan _https://github.com/naveensrinivasan_ _https://www.linkedin.com/in/naveensrinivasan/_ ## My Journey as a Software Engineer and OSS Contributor As a software engineer and open-source software (OSS) contributor, I am passionate about my work and my contributions to the OSS community. Over the past two years (2021 and 2022), I have received recognition for my contributions through Google Peer Bonus awards and have maintained a consistent track record of active involvement in the OSS community. My dedication to OSS is evident through my GitHub profile (https://github.com/naveensrinivasan), where I have been obsessed with contributing for the past two years without taking any breaks. ## Sharing Expertise in Supply-Chain Security In addition to my technical skills, I have developed expertise in supply-chain security and open-source software risk mitigation, which I enjoy sharing at conferences such as those organized by the Linux Foundation and RSA. I am honored to be a respected speaker and have had the privilege of speaking at large tech conferences in cities including London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle. ## Inspiration and Learning to Sell Recently, I have been inspired by Naval Ravikant's quote, "Learn to sell. Learn to build. If you can do both, you will be unstoppable." Having already acquired skills in coding ("learn to build"), I have set out on a journey to "learn to sell." This journey led me to develop my public speaking skills and motivated me to explore new opportunities to grow my brand. ## Embracing Reading and Content Creation As an avid reader, I admire content creators like Alex And Books (https://twitter.com/AlexAndBooks_), who have successfully monetized their passion for reading. To follow a similar path, I am embarking on a 30-day writing journey with a focus on mental models and how they can help individuals succeed. ## Personal Experience and Parenthood This journey is not only professional but also personal for me. As a parent of two teenagers who are Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, OSS contributors, and large conference speakers, I have used the knowledge I gained from books to help them achieve their goals—a challenging but rewarding experience. ## Goals for the Immediate Future Upon completing the 30-day writing challenge, I have set the following goals for myself: * ~~Start a newsletter to share valuable insights with readers.~~ * Write a simple 5-chapter book on "Mental Models for Parents" and how they can utilize these models to guide their children toward success.
