* Anne + she/her + We had an interesting discussion at my team's meeting today about our research ethics process, which is making me wonder about others' experiences here! + :cat2:
* Richard J. Acton + + getting researhers to annotate their microscopy images well when they don't see the imediate benefits + :zany_face:
* Kirstie W + she/her + We submitted a grant application to the Essential Open Source Software for Science call by CZI and there were loads of great discussions about who the "users" are and who the "stakeholders" are and how we can balance leadership with community engagement + :smile_cat:
* Sophia + she/her + Links between TMJ (joint in your jaw) and BVD (vision disorder) which is also linked with dyslexia - super cool chat with dental people + :ghost:
* Malvika Sharan (she/her) + interesting discussions everywhere - most recent one is on Ethics process and the practice of that in day-to-day collaboration. + 🚧
* Emma Karoune + she/her + been chatting a lot this week about differences between different research infrastructure roles + :smiley:
* Ale (she/her)
* Jim + he/him +
* Lucy + she/her + discussions on how often to DOI model code that is ever-evolving and contributing to many publications + :fallen_leaf:
*
* Arielle + she/her + had a fun chat with someone about open source contributions and why relying on GitHub's mosaic is too limiting
* [name=Kirstie] Do you have a link to the GitHub mosaic? I'm not sure I know what that is?
* [name=Arielle] the little green squares which show different contributions on your profile! They don't capture all the different ways people contribute
* [name=Kirstie] Oh YES - of course!
* [name=Jim] But I _really_ want mine to look busy
*
* Rowan + they/them + the launch of our annual public sector analytical coding survey!

### Notes room discussion (18 October)
* Practitioner Hub: Superbloom introduction
* LS: how to make a case to open more Product Management roles in an organisation.
* EF: Sustainable plan process -> value contribution upstream process
*
* RH: I’d also be really interested in seeing a business case for more product managers
* Project management vs Community Management, can people be transtition into new roles, is consultancy an option for transitions.
* When we are hiring short or long term do they bring the skills or willing to learn
* Skills mapping and values setting
* Aspects of open sources are not always open source valued or not willing to learn
* RH: retention problems, people are becoming product managers. RSE are becoming Product managers
**Notes from main room discussion** (4 October)
* Practitioners Hub Notes
* UX/Fruto workshop:
* RS: Dealing with prioritisation of stakeholders, how to make them feel embedded in the pipeline.
* LS: UX workflow was new introduction, was useful in doing interviews. It would have been good to know where we can bring it back - was useful in case studies.
* RH: Had some awareness of users and user-experience, but had not formally seen the techniques discussed. Good to learn how to do it well. In 1:1, used them to talk about general transformation and progress of organisation. Had some grassroots plans for implementing ideas, but it could go only so far. It was interesting to hear how to get high level support in the organisation to influence people down. Specifically talked about network that RH runs, where UX can be increased. There was enough time to do the homework between 1 and 2nd workshop. Was an interesting and useful workshop.
* SH: We want to support innovators in building open source tools (enable the use rather then building). It was useful to have frameworks to see systems level.
* AAA: Sometimes I felt the energy was low. But the curriculum was very good.
* Would love unstructured in person meeting to exchange some knowledge that we have that others are interested in. +1+1+1
* Business development: RedHat
* Licensing: OpenUK?
* Demo of each others work
* Skills gaps analysis workshop:
* LS: Most relevant to what LS is doing in skills development
* SH: AI SKills Roadmap: Pool is not there to bring under who to bring to fill the gap. People are struggling to find the skills needed (like coding skills, domain knowledge - like energy specific ones) -- how can we expand the tool to design courses like masters/acrreditation.
* DCE and clinical AI in the Turing are looking to get their curriculum accreditated.
* how to keep the curriculum up to date for the fast changing landscape for AI/DS.
* Example from UCL: Energy and Analytics (work very closely with active stakeholders)
* RH: We talked about people in uni, but there are not enough people who we can hire, and even if we do we probably can't afford them.
* How can we better engage with people and retain them. how can they be trained while in job.
* Building a sense of Psychological safety for people who are not used to not knowing things. How to make it easy to make mistakes.
* Data Science can be very elitist group, we can do many in person training. It's not about recruitment but provide resources that they can be upskilled (outside uni). people with do
* Privacy
* About the conversation about Analytics: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/f40-change-request-privacy-preserving-telemetry-for-fedora-workstation-system-wide/85320
* I think we should try more GDPR compliant analytics platforms, https://plausible.io/

**Notes from main room discussion**
* Practitioners Hub Notes
* UX/Fruto workshop:
* Business development: RedHat
* Licensing: OpenUK?
* Demo of each others work
* Skills gaps analysis workshop:
