# Artist outreach
Hi,
I'm writing to you because of a reply here: https://www.deviantart.com/forum/jobs/offers/2639239/ - we think your art is great and would like you to draw something for a fixed price, without entering the contest (though you can join it as well)
We have an NFT collection of eggs people could emote to (send emoticons). Our random art generation algorithm takes these emotes into account when hatching the bird to influence its look and functionality.
However, 139 eggs also have custom, guest art, as a secondary render (two arts per NFT). This secondary art is the art we'd like to commission you for. The 139 are divided like so:
- 40 most emoted eggs were put aside and are in an art contest where the reward is $1000 per illustration but only if the community votes for that illustration. Each egg can have multiple illustrations and the community votes on them. You can join the contest if you wish by going to https://kanaria.rmrk.app/artcontest
- The first 99 eggs by serial number (called Founder birds) default to guest art and there's no contest. We need 99 custom drawings. The first 9 birds of those 99, Super Founders, are special in an additional way - they carry legendary traits and have a legendary look.
This is what we'd like to commission you for.
Do you have capacity to, on a short notice, illustrate one or more founder birds through the month of June for the proposed price of $1000 per illustration?
The deadline is one week from the moment you claim an egg to draw. If you finish early, that's fine, get another one if you want, earn another $1000. You can draw as many as you can fit into your schedule during June.
Here are the rules:
- square ratio
- if raster, make it 2048x2048 at least
- has to be a bird or bird-like creature, potentially influenced by emotes on the egg you choose
See as an example this set of emotes: https://i.imgur.com/TJa8JER.png (just an example!)
Regarding the emotes' effect, if you were drawing the example above, it would be up to you - maybe the combination will inspire you to put an sporty bird on the moon, or maybe you'll feel like the bird should be a werewolf. Maybe instead you'll choose the single mushroom someome sent this guy and draw the bird as the stoned caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland. And maybe you won't feel these emotes at all, and will want to draw something else entirely. In any case, no need to cover them all or even focus on them at all.
Think of it like coming into a drawing class with that day's focus being pumpkins. You don't have to draw a pumpkin - you can draw a ghost, children trick or treating, jack skellington, or indeed a pumpkin patch. Maybe you just feel like covering the canvas with orange paint. Emotes are hint of a theme, nothing more. Maybe one thing to keep in mind - if the owner put them there (compare the emoter's address with the owner's address on the egg), this indicates that they would like the bird to have this theme and they're hoping their random generation will result in such a theme. Thus, they would surely appreciate it if the custom art reflected this as well.
That's it. The entirety of the rest of the art is up to you - draw what you feel, how you feel it. I want you to have full freedom of expression here. For some inspiration, check out the art contest (https://kanaria.rmrk.app/artcontest) to see how some people have incorporated the emotes to a lesser or greater extent.
Also, here is a table with the most common emote per every Super and Founder egg, which you should reference when picking emotes to represent / influence your work (there is a load more button on the emote popup in the app, but it's not too obvious, so better to reference the table): https://airtable.com/shrPV7mLGmLN7HBhu/tblO7bOSiIrOUrLic
So what you do is:
- pick one of these eggs
- check out which emotes they have
- based on those emotes, try and draw a concept that incorporates a bird and those emotes
For inspiration, check out some entries in this contest: https://kanaria.rmrk.app/artcontest - for example, this egg: https://kanaria.rmrk.app/artcontest/6802595-24d573f4dfa1d7fd33-KAN-KANL-0000000000003167 - it has Japan / Samurai themed emotes, so the artist drew it with those in mind, a robot japanese samurai bird
If possible, I would also like you, if you're in, to join our Whitelisted Artists room on Telegram where we communicate about the illustrations collectively: https://t.me/joinchat/GshYiXM6ffMxY2Zi
