## Introduction
Across the world, there is rising interest in the field of prosthetics. This has led to a flurry of papers discussing this and several patents as well. It is our goal in this paper to summarise these developments and compare them based on an universal scale which we will develop in this paper for understanding which of the known approaches are the most promising. This paper looks at all technical advancements made since the year 2000 in this field, with particular focus on the technologies which enable control of prosthetic limbs.
