## Laura's Bio Chalkboard

* Has been a lluf for 3 years!!
* Is a Senior concentrating in English with a secondary in Education
* Ask her about...
* community building activities
* video production assignments
* speaking to camera
* how she keeps Jordan up to date on the next gen linguistic additions to informal communication.
Here are some community building ideas:
* Weekly polls on Slack
* Share your day/week in 1 pic!
* Online game nights? Anyone?
## My Top 3:
* [Theatre Lab ReBoot](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bYPles5IIidYxxr6unT41nD5jfBwuzVb0wFNe5ivD8c/edit)- a doc for a theaterlab reboot that never *quite* happened, but who’s to say it couldn’t be rebooted over Zoom? I’m really proud of the resources I curated and the five-week-session plan that I organized.
* [Poetry Prompts](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_QUbazRTDdsyzotgw1c0ZTww-8CDUCmwivBM1-Ay8LI/edit)- a link to the poetry prompt LLUFs tested during SUmmer 2020. I had such a fun time with this analysis. I really was just living the English concentrator dream. I think the narrow focus of the prompt actually really helped to expand my analytical thinking, and working with the actual writing of the author was a lovely visual experience you don’t usually get when reading Times New Roman academic articles.
* [Cool ways to use Slack](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Y3vgEylRQl2EB5KwMS3N5S7DyHDwbMg32LAtbuFjokA/edit)- a link to a (rather poor) graphic design poster thing of the cool ways to use slack within the classroom, suggestions collected from the long “101 Ways” documents that the LLUFs collaborated on a while back. Although, again, my illustrator skills are somewhat abysmal, I did like organizing the information within the graphic and thought it could be a helpful simplification for professors. I used Adobe Illustrator for the graphic, but yeah, I really don’t think I have the mind for graphic design? Of course, I’m willing to try to change that!!
## My Semester Goals:
Literally whatever the Learning Lab needs I will do/try to do! I’m excited to keep working with and exploring the camera that I received, and hopefully that will lead to productivity with editing and other aspects of the film/photography world. I like to just kind of get a baseline understanding of everything, because this year I’m (scream) graduating, and I feel like truly any knowledge could potentially help me in whatever direction my future throws me.
## Trying to level my skills up in:
* podcasts & sound design
* video shorts (things that go to Vox, YouTube, even TikTok)
* infographics, datavis, posters, and other graphic design
* 2D animation
* coding for the web

## 3 favorite courses I've taken at Harvard and why (I had to pull up my transcript to really think on this one)
1. The Art and Craft of Acting
* This class broke me down and then built me up. Made me cry in front of 11 strangers and left us with this residual bond that has waned over four years but still exists at its core. Never will I forget watching these people perform, go to the scariest and darkest places of their minds, and inspire me to make better art every day. Easily the best class I have taken in my time at the college, if only because it made me feel like I belonged in a time when I was rife with imposter syndrome and self-doubt.
2. Equity in K-12 American Education
* Changed the way I think about education and is the reason I now have an Ed Studies secondary. Kay Merseth was an immaculate professor, and this class was just so well-organized and facilitated. Even though it was a lecture of 60 people, I felt like we were in a small seminar. My TF was phenomenal. It allowed me to reflect on my educational experiences which led me to Harvard, right in the moment when I was transitioning.
3. Curious Practice and Ritual Words: Playwriting with Phillip Howze
* If there’s one class I wish I could just stay in and perpetually take every single semester, it would be this one. The way Phillip approached writing, his tranquil demeanor and encouragement while simultaneously prodding me to push myself, left me always feeling my most grounded in a time when I was very, very not grounded. He also made me believe that I could be a writer if I wanted to (I’m not sure I want to, but it’s nice to know that I *could*). I never had any confidence that I could write a play, and I left this class with a 50-page portfolio that I’m incredibly proud of. One of the most profound and thought-provoking classes I have taken.
