## STEPS
1. Jordan: welcome! we're here to get you started on your multimedia projects by
2. giving you a couple of thoughts on how to think about multimedia composition in an academic context (Marlon)
3. doing a deep dive into one specific toolset a lot of you are psyched about: Podcasts (Mike)
4. then we're goint to get you started with a great visual prototyping (and, actually, even publishing) tool you may have used before: Canva (JK)
5. Marlon does 10 min or so leading a discussion of a couple of sample works/ideas to get us thinking about how and why you might choose a specific medium
2. Mike does 20 min or so introducing them to the workflow of creating a podcast, then does a little Q and A.
3. Jordan invites them all to a collective Canva doc, and
4. just really quickly explains the interface
5. gets everyone to add a slide
6. gets everyone to put their name on their slide
7. then sets up the challenge with Marlon's help: Everyone is going to create a template page for the money matters website. (moma HAMs, gallery page, create your template for the single coin page. an image and some text.)

### FROM THE COURSE
This is a great idea. In addition to the project proposals already sent to Avantika, there might be three (?) more of which two are podcast series and the third one a short book on women on coins for children (think of the Eyewitness series).
In theory the suggested projects aspire to be
a. podcast series
b. quiz, interactive activity
c. Educational resource/booklet/educational pack in the format of a booklet
### STUDENT PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS
Julia
I’m creating a quiz that allows people to create their own biography as a Roman emperor and assigns them a coin that would best suit them. I’d like it to be under a tab called “Issue Your Own Coin”. I’m still working on the actual questions and answers of the quiz as opposed to what software/platform I’ll use, so I’m not 100% sure what platform it will be, but it will either be in html or Python (most likely html).
Ava
For my project, I’m hoping to make an educational packet for students about power and identity on Byzantine coinage. I think this could come in any number of forms—I was envisioning just a packet of worksheets, but I could also see it as an interactive webpage. I’m going to structure the project with first a basic introduction to the Byzantine world, and then an exploration of various coins as case studies, including guiding questions to help students explore each one and instructions for teachers about how to facilitate the activity.
Ben
Robbie and I are looking to do a creative project that places emphasis on important cultural stories and historical events from different time periods and regions of the world, and of course their effects on coins.
The format we are thinking of for this is a written piece that gives related information and a series of 4-7 minute podcasts that illustrate these events.
Emily
For the final project, I am interested in making 4 podcast episodes of case studies surrounding the environmental implications of minting activity through time. For each podcast, I will study the displacement, destruction, and culture of minting activity and its impact on the environment, focusing on a different time period — Ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, Medieval Europe, and today (Bitcoin). Ideally, each podcast episode will include an interview with a professor/expert in the field/time period.
Robert
I will be creating a multi-part podcast series that opens with a discussion on why we study coinage. This intro will focus on how numismatics is used to study the economic and social history of a society. Along with this introduction, I will create 2 additional podcasts that delve deeper into specific time periods, or events. One of these podcasts will likely be centered around Roman coinage and inflation. I am still exploring subjects for my second topic. Finally, I would like to develop these podcasts, so that it replicates the style and structure of BBC Radio's "A History of the World in 100 Objects."
