These micro-organisms are as of right now separated into cell lines and viruses. These samples are the things you find on mobs and in dirty places and are the things you put into the growing vat. Cell lines can not be separated from samples, and as such can make it harder for you to grow a specific cell line if you have unwanted cell lines in the same sample. #### Virus organism Virus organisms are simple holders of a specific virus symptom, and if inside a micro-biological sample during the growing process will halt the growth of any cell lines in the same sample by a certain amount. They can also be used to give yourself a virus with the symptom the cell line has, allowing you to transfer it to virology. #### Cell line organism Cell lines are the pieces of a micro-biological sample. These cell line are most commonly traces of bacteria belonging to a specific creature. These cell lines can be grown to re-create the creature they once belonged to. ##### Growth Each of these cell-lines has several reagents it will respond to when inside of a growing vat, but also have some other variables that can affect growth-rate #### Required Reagents These reagents are required for the cell line to grow at all, and once met will allow the cell line to grow at a base rate. #### Supplementary Reagents These reagents will supplement the growth of a cell line by a specific amount, but only if all required reagents are also available to the cell line #### Suppressive Reagents These reagents will surpress growth of the cell line by a specific amount per process. Allowing you to slow down their growth. #### Virus suspectibility Some micro-biological samples can contain virus organisms. These organism are slightly different and cause any other cell-line in the sample to have slower growth based on how suspectible they are. This can mean it can be both beneficial or detrimental to have one in a sample. #### Growing Vat The growing vat is the structure in which you grow the cell lines of a specific micro-biological sample. It is a plumbing machine and allows you to input chemicals into it, allowing you to feed the sample with specific reagents to grow the cell line you want to have grow. ### Risks When growing a micro-biological sample, you are running the risk of causing your experiment to fail if you have cell lines that are partially matured once one of them reaches full maturity, as it will cause disbalance in the growth of the finished cell-line. At the moment this simply results in nothing to be spawned but gibs. This is currently based on a calculation of the total amount of cell lines, and how far they have matured. with more mature cell lines meaning a higher failure chance. ### The core gameloop Vatgrowing involves a simple loop that is separated into 3 separate parts. A quick summary of this can be found in the image below ![Vatgrowing Core Loop](https://i.imgur.com/2NY72IK.png) #### Exploration The first step to vat-growing is finding useable samples which can be used to grow new creatures. These samples can be found in a variety of places that are dirty of covered in bacteria by using a swab. But you can also take samples from specific mobs with a biopsy tool. This gameplay incentivizes Xenobiologists to head out of their safe haven to find new samples, and will make maint-spelunking a worth-while thing for them to do. #### Planning & Co-operation The next step for vat-growing is figuring out how to best utilize the sample you have found. In some cases the sample might not be worth your time at all, and you might dismiss it. But if you find a sample that is to your liking you will have to think of the best reagents to use for that sample. Because the cell lines in a sample are always different, and will often have conflicting needs, likes and dislikes. It will be difficult to obtain a balance in which you grow the cell line you want to have. This means you have to plan out your approach correctly, and work together with other departments to get any chemicals you might require. ### Growing This is the phase in the process where you use the growing vat to actually grow the cell line you want to grow. This process is rather simple once you have the chemicals in the vat, you simply wait for the vat to process the cell line until one is fully grown, and then depending on how succesful you were in only maturing one cell line you will either get the results of the cell-line you were cultivating, or have the experiment fail and spawn some gibs (or other fun things)
