The program involves introducing students to key topics in mobile app development, and supporting their project work over three projects. The instruction spans June 24th - July 15th, and is a 3-week full-time contract with prior training and preparation time required.*
**We are seeking to fill 5 positions this year...**
* 2 students to help lead Facebook's iOS (Objective-C) program
* 3 students to help lead Facebook's Android (Java) program

### Overview
This is our fourth year running [Facebook University](https://www.facebook.com/careers/university/fbu), where Facebook selects 120 freshman and sophomore university students from across the US to teach mobile app development to. Over the summer, these carefully-selected students are flown to Facebook's Menlo Park and Seattle offices as Facebook interns, where they run through a 3-week immersive iOS/Android bootcamp in a full-time program. This bootcamp program is designed and executed by our team at Facebook. The program is focused on diversity in STEM with the selected students largely being from under-represented backgrounds. The goal is to teach them practical mobile skills, inspire them to become software engineers, and empower them to become qualified to come back to FB again the next summer. We need help running the 3-week training bootcamp for these interns in Menlo Park and Seattle.
This would be a paid mentoring opportunity. You will work alongside another TA, and a professional iOS/Android engineer, to help support the students as they work through the project-based curriculum at Facebook's offices in Menlo Park or Seattle. The right candidate for this position would be someone with public speaking experience and/or experience mentoring others. The three key qualities that we've found make a successful TA are...
* **Debugging Ability** - How quickly can they spot issues in code and help students get unstuck on projects
* **Energy/Attitude** - Do they have a positive and friendly attitude that adds to a positive class atmosphere
* **Communication** - How clearly can they explain a concept or help someone understand what’s going wrong
The 3-week project-based curriculum is developed by CodePath and Facebook, and is largely the same from year to year. The students will be assigned one app to build each week for their first 3 weeks, following video tutorials to build each app. This will prepare them for the rest of their summer: working on group projects where each group will build an iOS/Android app of their own design. The top group app projects present to Mark Zuckerberg at the end of the summer. Last summer, it was an amazing and fun experience working with the students. They had an incredible amount of energy, and it was incredibly rewarding to be a memorable part of their summer experience and their journey into tech.
In addition to the 3 full-time weeks at Facebook HQ in Menlo Park or Seattle from June 24th - July 15th during the summer, you will also need to commit to 3 weeks of training, which will happen through online video chats and screensharing calls with your fellow TAs prior to June 24th. During these training weeks, you will spend 8-10 hours per week working closely with your fellow TAs and Lead TA to get to know each other and work through the same curriculum that FBU students will be given. Your Lead TA will supervise these training weeks to help you gain the knowledge and skills you'll need to have a successful and awesome experience mentoring Facebook interns over the summer :)
