# When to Visit Japan for an Unforgettable Experience: Summer or Winter <span style="font-weight: 400;">Deciding on the excellent season to travel to Japan isn't easy. Each of Japan's four distinct seasons have their own advantages and disadvantages (some greater than the others!). As we explain what you can expect during winter, spring, summer and autumn, we will be able to help you decide exactly when is the best time to travel to Japan based on your personal preferences.</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">Japan is home to four seasons: There's the famous cherry blossoms in the beginning of spring. In the summer, there are festivals, and in the fall, there is vibrant foliage, and during the winter, there is powdery snow.</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">Then, the question is:</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">Which time of the year is desirable for visiting Japan?</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">In a nutshell this way, you'll enjoy the excellent chances of enjoying a pleasant weather and fewer crowds during early spring (March to the beginning of April) and also in autumn (late October to November). Our preferred choice is to travel to Japan in November, but more on that in the future...</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">Let me back up... There is no definitive answer, since each season comes with its own distinctive draw (and drawbacks as well).</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">We're not going to simply let you hang around, hanging.</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">We'll discuss the advantages and disadvantages of traveling to Japan throughout the year to benefit you determine which season is best for you.</span> <h2><b>Summer</b></h2> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">When: mid-August (2019)</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">Our experiences:</span> &nbsp; <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Very humid and hot throughout the world.</span></li> </ul> &nbsp; <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the most popular locations, there are many Japanese tourists and foreign travelers</span></li> </ul> &nbsp; <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">We were blessed with several days of typhoon-like conditions.</span></li> </ul> &nbsp; <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mount Fuji wasn't on our route However, she was visible for a few days during our trip because of clouds.</span></li> </ul> &nbsp; <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">As it was too hot, onsens weren't available as they are at other times of the year.</span></li> </ul> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">We would recommend visiting Japan during August?</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">I wouldn't rate it as my top suggestion, but it's a good one. In the summer, it was very hot and humid, so I'd prefer to go in the cooler months when the temperatures are lower.</span> &nbsp; <span style="font-weight: 400;">Your trip to Japan will be significantly enhanced if you understand when the best time is to visit.
