She wants to climb the ladder through the Zentharims and get rid of Xanatars. - She pointed us to the elf Davil Starsong if we wanted more work from the Zhentarims. He is one of the 5 founders of a sub-branch of the Zhentarims, "The Doomriders". All the tunnels under waterdeep axtend for km underground, and aside from treasures there seems to be secret access to an underground draw city (Skull Port), a under Xanatar's control. He's a bit of a weird dude, apparently. **He mentions we should talk to ** at the docks about Floon. - The Force Grey HQ is in the Blackstaff Tower, in the Castle borough # Session 2 21/11/22 (Uktar 15) ### Davil Starsong - Elf, Big dude in the Zhentarims, has plenty of jobs and tasks to give us around town. He prefers to bypass the City Watch in quelling the violence between Zentharims and Xanatars. - He claims they are being provoked by the Xanatars, which he'd like to investigate going further. - Methkins might be involved in a few murders, racially motivated (elf or half-elf), some of which are also Zhentarims. They are aware the area is split between Xanatars and Zhentarims. - He remembers seeing Floon, together with Volo. He doesnt recall if they both left together, but he points us towards a dodgy dwarf (Solomil) who apparently spoke with them for quite a bit. He's a sailor, not a criminal. - He also pointed us towards the captain of the City Watch who's around in the pub if we want more info on what's going on in the docks (Sigorn). ### Conversation with Solomil Silverfingers (Sailor Dwarf) ![](https://i.imgur.com/iH9UtW4.png =250x) - He appears relatively young, with hands heavily covered in rings and greasy hair. He tells us he's been playing dice with Volo and Floon, there seems to be no animosity, despite the fact that Floon won a ton of money out of him. - He also talks about another man who approached them, Renaer Neverember, the posh son of Lord Neverember, who's a friend or at least an acquaintance of Floon (not sure about Volo). He then left the inn with him as he thought Floon was too drunk. - After another won game, he tells us that when Floon and Renaer left he spotted a bunch of bald Zentharims that followed them outside the pub. - The 5 bald dudes gave him a job once, unloading a few boxes in a warehouse off Candle Lane (look for a _small snake drawing_ to locate it). - We also find out that Methkins is a private investigator, an elf, who's been going around asking questions. As a result, Floon was taken away somewhere else. - They were most likely after the Stone of Golor, the only key to access a ton of swag from Lord Neverember. The Stone was stolen, and they think it's Raener who did it, however he knows nothing at all about this stone. - The Kenkus (affiliated with Xanatar) mentioned something about following yellow signs to the sewers where they would have brought him to their leader. - Upstairs we found a rudimentary bell alarm system going down the north window, some gold coins and a _paper bird_, a magical device that allows you to communicate with a recipient at distance. ![](https://i.imgur.com/C5A28YV.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/qOfy7iH.png =250x) - We found a secret room and a chest with 4 beautiful urban landscape paintings Lascan, Neverwinter, Silvery Moon and Baldur's Gate ![](https://i.imgur.com/rvmkf8B.png =x250)![](https://i.imgur.com/TODH9uY.png =250x) # Session 3 28/11/22 (Uktar 15) - The City Watch stormed the warehouse shortly after our fight, most likely looking for Raener. They found him hiding and he interceded for us so that they knew we were not responsible for the massacre (lol). They told us we could pick up some work with them at Castle Ward as unofficial co-operators but they won't be covering us if we decided to enter the sewers to save Floon. - Cnat got smashed jumping out a window ![](https://i.imgur.com/RG13Jsy.png =250x) ### Hyustus Staget ![](https://i.imgur.com/iAu9BnL.png =x250)![](https://i.imgur.com/7pP134F.png =x250) The City Watch high ranking officer seems to like us and would recruit us - They don't know if there's a main entrance to the sewers but they suggest to search for the closest entrance to the building. ### Parting ways from Neverember and descending into the sewers - We are to move towards the sewers and are sending Floon to stay at a friend called Mirt, a harpist, which lives in a mansion in Castle Ward, neat the City Watch HQ, at the crossing between Coin Alley and Tarnish Silver Alley. ### Sewers - We found a manhole with what appeared to be signs of a body being dragged towards it on Book Street. We chose to enter the sewers from there and were greeted by a stench of shit and total darkness. We went outside for a second and realised we were still in the Docks quarter. We keep pushing through and the ladders leading to the surface progressively disappear, meaning that we might be in an area of town where there's no public access to the sewers. - We meet a strange creature guarding a shorter than usual ladder (about 3m vs the normal 7-8m). Fuck if I know, we legged it and got back to Volo for our prize and a well-deserved rest. # Session 4 18/12/22 (Uktar 16) ## Yawning Portal ![](https://i.imgur.com/rjmw7i4.png =250x) - We wake up and hide Floon in a closet for "extra care", then proceed downstairs to find Volo - Volo tells us that he's short of cash but that he could instead compensate us with an ownership contract for a run-down mansion in the North Ward (Trollskull Alley) ![](https://i.imgur.com/lDUchoB.png =250x) - The catch here is that the house is haunted by a poltergeist that will most likely make our life a living hell should we choose to move there. It's not dangerous for our lives but quite unpleasant. - Volo suggests to try to tackle the issue by communicating with the spirit and see if he/she/it needs something to be done or returned to acquiesce his/her/its nonbinary fury ![](https://i.imgur.com/Kd7muHQ.png =250x) - We agree to meet Volo the next day at the City Hall to make the contract exchange official and we let him reunite with Floon. We proceed to the Market Ward ## Market Ward - Cnat approaches a merchant to discuss the paintings. - We spot the signatures of the paintings - they are from "Pimlico". Fine Art merchant Colbert tells me they can be very expensive. We follow him at the back of the store away from undiscreet eyes. - The Laskan painting appears not to be part of the Tryptich collection (Neverwinter, Sailor Moon, Baldurs Gate) - Price is roughly 500 gold each, the trictic more valuable sold together - **Colbert, the merchant**, accepts to buy the Laskan painting on the spot for 400 gold but we turn down his offer in the hope a wealthier buyer will pay more for it. He asks us to come back in 3 days (on Uktar 19) as he will have found a buyer by then. ![](https://i.imgur.com/5OBbZz5.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/k1oekVL.png =250x) ## Dockyard ### Ship Street - We look for Metkins' office on Ship Street to investigate the elf killings. - Metkins is a fairly old elf, looks more like an adventurer himself. He has been investigating on his own, not asked by City Watch. ![](https://i.imgur.com/szLRuFy.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/qh5HxyB.png =250x) - So far there's been 5 victims, all surface elves (no drows) and half-elves. - The last killing was a peasant called Ivy at the Thirsty Sailor Tavern, in the Dock Ward. It was so discreet the victim wasnt found dead until the morning as everybody at the scene thought she was sleeping. - The other killings were way more visible (one strangled, one drowned or thrown off a building) but he doesn't know if they were robbery-related. City Watch is as useful as a pair of socks with holes. - The only common themes is that the serial killer operates at night and at a relatively regular interval (more or less 2 weeks), but it seems odd that his victims were going for a stroll that late in the evening. - He points us to Sigourn from the City Watch who's screwing around the Piers' area. ### Piers (city watch office) - **Sigourn** is a Dragonborn warrior, full plated and very cool ![](https://i.imgur.com/qXPm9R0.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/ncMwCjZ.png =250x) ![](https://i.imgur.com/oMZxwy0.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/sxJHZ5h.png =250x) ![](https://i.imgur.com/yvYgnED.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/hX0zEyF.png =250x) - We tell him Meloon sent us and he shares some concerns about him. He appears different lately, he says. - We try to get some info on the elf killings and on the potential compensation (80gp). - Seems the knife used for the last killing was forged outside the city. It looks quite new, almost never used before, but of common manufacture. - Sigorn confirms there seems to be no common trend, no political movement nor alliances within the elves. - He tells us we could help the City Watch by snooping around at a meeting between Xanathars and another mysterious group in the sewers, at a crossing just under the Market Ward. They'd like us to investigate and figure out what's going on. If we're successful the rewards is 70gp. ## Market Ward (again) ### Xanathar's Sewers Crossroad - We approach the place of the meeting and hear a group of people chatting loudly, they've been waiting for 2 hours without anyone from the other side showing up. - It appears they are guarding something precious in a crate ![](https://i.imgur.com/ho00lme.png =250x) - We pretend to be the other side of the exchange, and while examining the crates we find one portrait painting of a noble family and one from a sort of epic battle - Trag was the capobanda, he probs knew way more than the others. - The rich merchant they were supposed to meet might have not turned up cos they smelt. - He might belong to the Bregan D'Aerthe' organisation, half merchants half mercenaries, a bit shady to be honest. - We kill everyone and take about 40 paintings in a crate - We flushed the bodies into the sewers ![](https://i.imgur.com/G4w4g9w.png =250x) ### Yawning Portal - We go to the Yawning Portal to drop off 30 of the 40 paintings, carry the crate away visibly so that no one will go looking in our rooms and we proceed to go to the city watch to deceive Sigorn about what happened, returning the 10 paintings and receiving our compensation (70 gold). - We decide to use the evening to check the Thirsty Sailor in case the elf-killer showed up. # Session 5 16/01/23 (Uktar 17) ## Town Hall - We go to the town hall and notarise property papers with Volo. We are now proud first time owners of a shitty old victorian house in Peckham. There's nothing better than inherited wealth. Po: Lif Pi: Reveal yourself Po: Scary reveal Pi: *Unimpressed* we are the new landlords Po: Clearly displeased Pi: Why u crazy, chill bru Po: This is my tavern Pi: How did you die? Po: Dunno Pi: Did you know ppl? Po: Everyone knew me, me wuz well pplr Pi: What’s your unfinished biz? Seems like the start of an odd friendship. ### Tiger's Eye After this encounter, we started exploring the neighbourhood. First we went to the Tiger's eye and found out there lives a private investigator named Vincent Trench. He invited us in his house and he answered some questions while offering his services. We spoke about Metkings, who he knew (as a not as good investigator as himself). He hasn't heard about the killings of the elves. We present him with Volo's signed copies for an evaluation. We exchange our 2 copies for 2x2nd level spells that Cnat promptly steals. ![](https://i.imgur.com/dBJQneB.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/KB94xh2.png =250x) ### Corellon's Crown Fala Lefalir welcomes us and as we ask about the story of our ghost she explains that the owner of the tavern (Troll Skull Tavern) died about 30 years ago pushed under a brew barrel. Apaprently a couple bought the property afterwards trying to make a posh hotel but failed as the ghost was not exactly selling the whole concept too well. The property changed hands a little more afterwards but always with little success. The last owner they knew about was Dagult Neverember (PLOT TWIIIST!). It appears recently someone else often asked about the property, a certain Emmek Frewn, a foreigner (Laskan accent or some other Mexican country) that often came round to enquire about the price of the property etc. It appears to have happened 3-4 times in the range of a few years. We ask about the elven murders and they seem not to know or care too much as it's well far from where she lives and whatevz, really who gives a fuck, I live in Kensigton anyways and dun care about the ends. They've heard we are thinking of starting a business and are offering protection. Honestly, they look like a bunch of minor criminals and they claim to be independant and to work for Bronn. We demand for a meeting with the boss in 2 days (the 19th) in our tavern. ## Yawning portal (check out) We go back to the Yawning portal and have a little chat with the bartender, celebrate our successes, faff about, pay and collect our shit. We go have a chat with Davil Starsong to see what's what. ### Davil Starsong Davil is a Zentarim associate. We choose to delay this decision for later He gives us a heads up on a side quest: we should visit the Weird Bottle's Concoctions' shop, managed by Skeemo the Alchemist. He patented a mind-reading potion which Davil wants us to retrieve and bring to an unknown lady which will give us our reward. A lot of people noticed what we did in the square as it was very busy but no one seemed to give much of a shit. ## Yawning Portal We go to the Yawning Portal, chat with Yagra (the tittied orc) and build up some relationship, exchange banter, etc. Then we talk to Meloon which has notice our dealings with Davil and mentions he'd like to knick him (as Meloon is Force Gray militia). While chatting to Meloon Tanc remembers that the Neverember kid is well more connected to the Force Gray as he knows which is way above Meloon's level. So probably a waste of time here. We get a bit of talk going about Zentarims, and find out that it was split in two parts, where Davil's (one of five top boys, including Keemo, the annoying rock gnome drug dealer, Istrid Horn which is a Depts Dwarf or something like that, some half orc, and more unknowns) is the one he antagonises the most, and the other is the Black Network, managed by a mad wizard called Manshoon, which is kinda the top baddy and mega dangerous, which was last seen in Zentil Keep. ### Manchoon ![](https://i.imgur.com/Wbp6XOQ.png =250x) Because we are little shits, we then go talk to Davil ignoring anything that was just said to us. ### Chat with Davil Davil was not very happy about us messing with the street dealers, reprises us a little and we pretend to learn a lesso for like, a minute. We move on to casually chat about the next quest. There is a rich halfling family, the Snowbeedles, that live in the posh bit of the docklands (north). A certain Dasher Snowbeedle has disappeared. Seems normal as he's a wee bit of a dickhead, but since he comes with great endorsement from the rest of the establishment they'd care to know if he's just whoring about or gambling or actually in trouble. They just seek information, but we don't really care that much for now. Obviously City Watch is investigating but due to the budget cuts in the public sector we don't really expect shit to be done about him. We would get roughly 80% of the reward. ## Back to the mansion, briefing We talk to Lif and brief him with the plan for the ambush the day after. ## Uktar 19 We go to River street to negotiate with a second merchant that we didn't yet have a fight with. They offer us 2.5k gold for the trictic (+1) from Pimlico. We now go to Colbert and negotiate a price of 3k with separate buyers. He gives us an appointment for Uktar 20th in the evening to close on 3k (plus his 20% commission ON TOP, dickhead). We then go sell the other 20 (or so) paintings at River st and go back home to prepare an ambush to the Camorra folks. ## Back to the mansion We prepare an ambush and basically make Bronn into baby powder into a single turn and while everyone escapes we attempt to talk Fritz into being our number 1 employee. ![](https://i.imgur.com/6DtXyRH.png =250x) We convince him to lead us to their safehouse and try to recup the rest of the crew. You should see the Guilds" 1500 GC to Refurbish the Tavern Running Costs: 60 GC every 10 days Earnings: every 10 days roll a D100 ## Meeting with Fritz Frits lets us know him and 4 people would still be available to work for us - their running price is 4 silver coins each. We hire them, and offer him 8 silver coins. Apparently Rud (another ex gang member) is trying to reboot the gang againts us. At least we get to keep the paintings and kill a couple of them. We try to go to River st in the Trades Ward to sell them at the lower price previously offered, but it seems no one wants to buy them now as it's been going around that these pictures were stolen and hot. We end up storing them back at our house. We may be able to place them when it all blows over in a week or so. ## Back home Fritz is very relieved to see us as in our absence he found out the house is haunted (oopsy, we forgot to let him know) Myrt, the famous harpist adventurer introduces himself and offers a job for the harpist. We return to the Yawning Portal to talk to Davil. He asks us where we are with the Metkins investigation, we give him an update, it seems further quests will be more important, but we should focus on that for now. ## Skewered Dragon We go to the Skewered Dragon to talk to Solomil (we were to do that 2 days ago) about shifty dockland quests. They only pay about 3 silver coins a night, so we easily pass. ## Thirsty Sailor We check in the Thirsty Sailor just to take a look about the elf killings. No news, everyone is drunk and careless again. ## Back home We go back home and chat to our employees. They investigated Colbert and it seems he disappeared completely. Seems it happened before and he always came back after a few days. We didn't find his address. We give Fritz a budget of 10 gold coins to find out. We start the works to renovate the tavern for 1500gc which should finish by Nigtal 1st. We tell Lyf that he should help in every possible way to make this happen and not scare people to death cause otherwise we are liable for a lawsuit and this will cost the company its image and have great opportunity costs and we are targeting free cash flow. ![](https://i.imgur.com/aTzlA2W.png =250x) # Session 7 08/02/23 (Uktar 21) A boy comes knocking at our door early morning telling us that Metkins wants to meet us. We give him a silver coin so that he can go buy drugs, or ice-cream, we dont judge. In the letter the boy handed us it appears that the investigator has discovered something huge on the Elves' murders' case ![](https://i.imgur.com/9u3AnCY.png =250x) ## Metkins' office We find Metkins on his office door, he tells us that last night or early this morning the City Watch found another dead elf, a trader this time, not far at all from the office. He asks if we want to go to the crime scene together: we choose to follow the fucker. We arrive on the scene and start chatting with the City Watch. They don't appear willing to cooperate. With an improbable Charisma dice throw, Cnat finds out the victim was the Perfume Seller. We claim to be sent by Sigourn and this seems to suffice to let us in to continue the investigation. ![](https://i.imgur.com/OcR6lfe.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/3tetVU3.png =250x) We enter the shop and see the corpse on the floor, covered in cuts. The City Watch believes the killing to have happened only a couple hours ago, with a very tall figure but incredibly fast suspect fleeing the scene. He/She/They dropped a few perfume bottles when running away but it's hard to think that the murder was a result of a failed robbery. ![](https://i.imgur.com/29F0ya5.png =250x)![](https://i.imgur.com/TZH5veb.png =250x) ![](https://i.imgur.com/jQD2uer.png =250x) We inspect the body, scattered with several dagger-inflicted wounds: a far cry from the clean and stealthy tehchnique Metkins suggested the Elf-Killer followed. Going forward, we will call them the "Monster of FirElfe". The dead elf is called Amos Elias and is a fragrance specialist. He carries a few gems and gold coins, a small dagger for opening letters and his shop's keys. Looking further, we find blood and skin residues under his fingernails - an indication that he fought his assailer until his death. The flesh residue, in particular, is remarkably dark and similar to that of a drow. We put the sample in a parchment for future analysis. Metkins thinks not unlikely that the killing is be related to the Monster, despite the bad execution. Hatred between Drows from the Underdark and Surface Elves runs quite deep, but usually they keep away from cities and most of all they dont need perfumes. We should keep this detail in mind. Another quirk is that this is the first high-profile victim compared to the commoners killed so far. Also, the last murder goes back only 7 days ago, a big difference from the fairly regular spacing between the previous killings. The only witness to the scene told us the suspect wore a purple cape, made very little noise even while running and ran towards Ship St, then North-West. Luckily, a small healing temple closeby might be a good port of call for someone who got injured in a fight. We ask him if he's seen somebody wearing a purple cape, he says he did indeed see them and they weren't in great shape. A drow man with a bad wound on his face that most likely were caused by a beast. They appeared to be a drow and stink of decomposition, the smell seemed to come out of him despite not opening his mouth. He arrived at the temple as the sun was rising, they covered their face and left, probably not to be affected by the sunlight. ![](https://i.imgur.com/mYMAqPU.png =250x) The priest assures despite of smelling like death he wasn't an undead as their belling would have damaged them instead of healing. It's likely that a drow with so little tolerance for sunshine is fresh on the surface and not dealing coping with daylight. We decide to look into the closest tavern, to see whether the culprit may have hidden nearby to pass the day. ## Thirsty Sailor tavern We stumble upon the Thirsty Sailor on Fish Street. Talking to the bartender we seem to find out not much else, despite gaining their simpathy due to them being friends with the dead. ![](https://i.imgur.com/5iBxk1c.png =250x) The bartender is sure no drow was here today, but a drow would have stayed the evening one week ago. It seemed to have been the same night that there was a killing. ![](https://i.imgur.com/W3qhyV1.png =250x) We now have a suspect. We enquire about their appearance. The drow in question was wearing a traveler cape, was dressed as an adventurer and may have been wearing a leather armour. They had a drink and had caused no issues. Was smelling nice and probably wearing parfume. The drow was quiet, only pointed to make an order, socialised with no one, looked older than cnat, white hair, he seem to have a sort of metal cane / wand with a handle as a weapon. It was rather small and kept it in a holder. The bar tender could not really identify this weapon. Petra (the bartender) mentions that quite often an itinerant carnival lands at the docks, and stay for a short while. We hear some noise in the water - seems some slimy creatures are creeping under its level. We proceed to take a nap of 12 hours. **(Uktar 22)** Petra the Stakanovist (only available in DnD, not real life) tells us that Metkins has left in the meantime but asked us to meet him at his office tomorrow. ### The bloody fist It’s late hours when we enter The Bloody Fist to continue investigating - there’s an organised dwarf fight and bets happening and the tavern seems way more alive than others. We now walk into the parfume shop (the crime scene) and notice the door was open. Alvin enters stealthly as we wait outside and take watch. Apparently the man is into deep meditation most of the time, so we shan't disturb him too much. We bump into a manticore. After the short rest, we reach the top of the mountain where we can see that the drow circus ships have reached the city docks, and find the hermit’s hut. It’s approximately 1am, and if anyone is inside they are likely sleeping. It‘s like dumb and dumber. He proceeds with a tad more bragging and general wanking about his long meditation. It’s like talking to Manlio, just worse. This individual is extremely irritating but seems to hold some charm over Saveriovok for monastic reasons that are way beyond me, and they’re now talking unpaid internships despite the fact that we’re all very tired about the whole business of this long day. Anyway, the dude is called Hallam or some other Mexican name of that sort. He’s seriously bad vibes but Saveriovok may just have something to learn from him, hopefully not requiring any sexual favours. # Session 9 27/02/23 (Uktar 24) The sun is rising (it’s about 5am) as we get back to Waterdeep. ![](https://i.imgur.com/K4v02EM.png =250x) We go meet Vajra at Blackstaff tower, where she claims Halam tends to be quite cryptic when he's not on his pills. She says she's still willing to perform the ritual and that she will require a piece of organic matter from the creature and a few hours to wrap the whole thing up. *We give Vajra the fragment of drow skin* ![](https://i.imgur.com/wj7jife.png =250x) We decide to return to Trollskull Manor to regroup and rest before searching the Docks' area on the back of Vajra's ritual. # Session 10 06/03/23 (Uktar 24) As we get back home Fritz tell us that representatives from all guilds showed up to propose a meeting to discuss supplies and organisation for our new business. We have to fix a date by Nightal 1st. He also tells us that works keep pushing on as expected with no hiccups. The issue here is that they might get in trouble and lead the city watch back to us. We can always decide in the future whether we want to stay fully legal or dip our toes into racketing as a side business. She greets us and tells us that the ritual gave a hint on the presence of 2 people instead of 1, both in the same place, meaning that it could be 2 entities in the same body - maybe someone who's been possessed and it's not even given that it's a drow. The creature has spent the last 2 days in the docks' neighbourhood within the sewers. This can be accessed by a long and twisty tunnel with a bunch of buildings and structures that indicates somebody inhabits that area. She saw a long rectangular room with something that looked like a throne at the end. Jorg lets the fact that we saw a Mindflayer in the sewers slip in the conversation and Vraja seems surprised. She then tells us that the dual entity issue might be due to an intellect devourer, which clings on its host until they die (this might explain the stench of rotten flesh in our suspect!). She claims that as soon as the host is killed the parasite is likely to look for another host straight away (us, probably). ### Back into the Sewers We choose to risk it and head to the sewers, once again through the entrance close to Xanathar's base. Unfortunately we do not find the yellow marks that guided us the first time, but thankfully Saveriovok drinks his own piss to allow the entire party's survival. We get into one of the worst played fights of our campaign and end up somehow and despite odds killing the possessed drow and the brain devourer that was in his brain. Alessio becomes a vegetable, which all in all is almost an improvement. We go back to Vagia and as we prove our worth, she offers us an official position in Force Grey if we wanted so, we take time for now as we have feet in all shoes. We go to Davil and bring the head of the drow, the corpse of the brain devourer and the stoled perfumes and cash out our payment (300GC). Davil also offers us to join the Zhentarim. We then proceed to also cash in our fee from the city watch, gather Metkins as a third party witness to the whole story and cash in another 120GC that was the official watch. He repeats our invite to join Force Grey. While Alessio rests, we fast forward a week and figure out how to use the time: Options: - 1 search (2ppl) - 1 money led task - Practice a craft / trade / skill # Session 10 06/03/23 (Nightal 1st) ### A week has gone After our encounter with the intellect devourer which left Saveriovok virtually disabled, we choose to spend the week shopping around for items that will come handy in the future. One of these is the bag of holding for which we manage to snatch a bargain at 850gp (not thanks to Saveriovok's charisma, he's a vegetable). In the meantime the renovation works for our enterprise finally hit completion so everything's ready for our startup's launch. The party members who are not mentally incapable choose wisely to study 1/4 of Volo's guide to monsters so that we are more likely to avoid death by dumb battle strategies. We run downstairs to check the neihgbourhood and we see a large patch of terrain completely burnt down. The smell of roast meat is strong and the building next to ours has caught fire. People are panicking while trying to throw to throw water on the flames but it doesnt really work. We spot about 11 charred bodies within the flaming inferno and we ask a passerby what the fuck's happened. Saveriovok grabs a sciura by her neck and inquires about the accident. Not far from him a couple of armed humans lie lifeless, as well as other humanoids and the above mentioned halflings. The gnome, upon careful inspection, is found to have his belt undone and a whopping 100gp on him with which he was probably buying drugs. His boots were also completely covered in grime, of the same kind of the one found in the sewers. He was gonna meet Neverember to give it to him - he didn't want to even take it and didn't show up. TL;TR; Neverember thinks someone must have found him ang taken the stone. Loads of people may have heard of this - Neverember mostly suspects the Zentharims. The stone seems to be the key to enter a vault containing 10k golden dragons hidden there by his father. Neverember suggests to try a necromancy spell to talk to the dead gnome. Meanwhile he explains us the marionette possibly was a nimblewright from the temple of Gondd, deity of crafting. We decide to buy the [Speak with Dead](https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Speak%20with%20Dead#content) spell for 250G and go to castle waterdeep to chat to the dead gnome (with the help of Neverember which has ties with a bunch of folks working there. (Piler) - Why did you want to meet Neverember? A1. I wanted to give Neverember the stone to bring to his father. - Q2. Who mandated your killing? A2. I'm not sure but I was being chased by three drows, probably Zentharim. - Q3. Who do you think has sent the nimblewright that was spotted on the scene? A3. I was chased by the Zhentarim and I was hiding in the sewers for days while chased for stealing the stone from the Xanathar. - Q4. Who killed you? A4. Not sure, but a fireball - Q5. Who and where did you get the stone from? A5. He infiltrated in the sewers cove of Xanathar (kingpin) with 6 others (no one else made it) with the objective of retrieving the stone We realise that if two drows are dead, one more was following the gnome (and he was Zentharim) and after keeling on the corpse escaped limping, it's likely that while the niblewright killed the gnome the Zentharim drow actually went away with the stone. Cnat attempts to disguise themself as one of the dead drows at the Yawning Portal to try to investigate the guilty parts. Devil doesn't recognise him, neither does anyone else. Meanwhile the team chats to Yagra and finds out that the Black Network of Zentharim appears to be now ran by Urstul Floxin, a drow that has a mandate on his head. For a few drinks, Yagra tells us that Urstul is currently hiding in the mansion of the Gralhund family, a noble family of untouchables in Waterdeep. ## Temple of Gondd We go to the [Gondd temple](https://kingsway-role-playing-group.fandom.com/wiki/House_of_Inspired_Hands) in the Sea Ward (where the Nimblewright was likely made) to investigate further. We talk to a Dragonborn that explains us that while a nimblewight made in this temple couldn't have committed acts outside the temple, a particularly creative one may have constructed another niblewright that could have committed a crime. We go looking for him and interrogate him. He admits to being in fear of acts of his being found out. He did something bad last month. He created another small nimblewright. He did that because others of his kind are different and don't like him. He spent a while with the creature but he escaped to explore the world. He never came back. He didn't tell anyone about it not to upset the priest. Once, though, he remembers a noble woman getting close to the temple and being interested in his creation. She worm a long green vest with golden finishes. The vest had a symbol representing a face with two parts, one half was pink and the other red. He tells us that it's not dressed, roughly made and about 1m tall (hence much shorter than him). We ask the priest of Gondd whether he wants us to take care of the issue without getting the city watch (insurance) involved, perhaps behind some compensation such as artefacts and shit. After a short rest at Trollskull to recover spells we go to Gralhund Villa. ## Gralhund Villa The villa appears majestic and well looked after, despite the ominous outlook. 4m tall walls keep the large plot of land separated from the rest of the neighbourhood. After a long negotiation we attempt double playing the lady and the drow, it turns out he is Urstul Floxin, - we decide to talk to him and pretend he runs free after a fight after deciding with Lady Gralhund to deliver him to justice (or kill him) to then meet again at the tavern to get information. We meet Barnabus Blastwind and Saeth Cromley when the city watch arrives. The lady tells a bullshit story to the 50 - in her version the nimblewright belonged to the Zentharims and stole a fireball necklace from her house and disappeared, in the meanwhile Urstul and his thugs seized control of the villa and held hostage the Gralhund family. We know the truth is different: the nimblewright was working for lady Gralhund and unleashed a fireball on Urstul and his two sidekicks. Urstul survived, stole the stone from that gnome and came back to the villa for revenge. But things didn't turn out so well for any of them. Where is the stone now? There was no trace of it or the nimblewright at the Villa... # Session 12 22/05/23 (Nightal 4th) We wake up with a kid screaming at the top of his lungs to sell the freshest copy of the Waterdeep Wazoo. Thank Talos, child labour is still legal here. The newspaper reports the details of last night's battle at Grahlund Villa, with a big fat ban on Zentharims all over town. A dodgy looking human with an inhuman amount of hairgel approaches Trollskull Alley and knocks at the door. He introduces himself as Laggo Spessoh, a bard with a harmonica who plays a funky new beat called 'Blues'. We express our doubts on a potential involvment of Xanathars, but it could very well be that Zentharims just fucked up. We choose to venture with Laggo in the sewers and leave Cnat at home to rest a bit, he's been looking like shit lately so he probs deserves a rest. After a quick search in the sewers, we clash swords with a bunch of lame Zentharims and of course this ends in a bloodshed. We manage to capture one of the bad guys and decide to bring him up on the surface to hand him in the Harpists. The list is as follows: - Yagra Stonefist - Ursul Floxinn - Davil Starsong - Istrid Horn - Skimo Weirdbottle - Sidra Romeir - Agorn Fuoco We chat to laggo and we find out he lost his friends from the black magic evocations of the Gralhaund on a boat. Apparently they also do rituals in the cemetery - once every two days mas o menos. An old man that works in the graveyards, Valen Rudor, is the one to ask. We take a long rest but we’re woken up by someone knocking at our door - Lif signals us someone just arrived. From the window we see a large hooded figure. Babbetto goes to the door - it’s Yagra. She ain’t in a great way. We talk to her and finally decide to hide her. The entrance seems to lead to the underground. Together with the stone, he had a note: *"A gift for the masters. Y.G."* We try to find a way to deactivate it and tie it up, masking it as a backpack and carrying it back on the surface. This family has a strange story, Cnat recalls every single bit of it... that gossiping brat. 3 years ago the family was going bankrupt but all in a sudden they came back and became one of the richest families in Waterdeep. We decide to ransack the place for a total of 5 Health Potions, 7 common potions and 5 uncommon potions. Someone notices noise while leaving as Laggo sucks at walking, but it doesn't seem we’ve been identified. We make it home at around 3:20am and the dward casts Identify Object to locate the stone. While the spell is out of range, the dwarf senses it suggesting to look west. We run to follow the direction and end up in Rough Road where - outside a theatre, there seems to be a lot of movement and a popular celebration. In secondary news, we have the stone. # Session 17 01/08/2023 (Nightal 7th) Laggo and Saveriovok keep chasing one of the Stone holders until they disappear in the crowd in the slums. Allegedly nobody knows how to use the stone but they all want their hands on it. He offers to give us more details on the Zentharims' cove if we agree to spare his life. We choose to bring him to one of the safehouses the bad guys used in the past in order to reconvene with the rest of the guys. Laggo goes to fetch them while Saveriovok guards the dude. We torture and kill the hostage for more info, find out there's a fee for his head but decide to just leave his dead body in the hideout and avoid making too much noise that may bring us closer to a confrontation with Manshoon. ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/S1yF91zW6.png =300x) We go back for a long rest. ## Nightal 7th afternoon The day after Cnat studies the stone and finds out it gives +1 to armor class after attuning with a short rest - it's also a key. It takes another half day to keep studying the stone. The stone is also sentient and answers questions. This means that the Mausoleum must be in the City of the Dead. We decide it's time to disguise the dwarf, not only so that he can have a normal social life, but also because we want to keep his appearance hidden to the only witness who could unmask us. Of course Urstul knows exactly what we're on about, but until that time, hey! who cares. Upon a generous offer of 2gp, he peers into the graveyard's logs and finds about the mausoleum we're interested about. Apparently it's not been looked after that much and points the place on our map. We choose to head there straight away to recon the place. Cnat keeps investigating it and discovers that the tree has a pretty much humanoid figure, including wooden legs stuck in the ground. We could very well be facing a Trent, a sentient creature that is usually benign but hold great powers. Still very flammable, though. Cnat tries to interact with it and after a while he mnanages to establish a contact. The Trent manifests itself to all of us and asks us what we're up to. Cnat embarks on a philosophical discussion with the tree, completely missing the point of our mission. After a long discussion we learn that the tree is guarding the entrance to the mausoleum and won't let us in unless we have somebody with Brandatt's blood with us. Therefore we head straight to Myrt's place to find Lord Neverember and bring him along. Myrt greets us and asks whether we have info on the Zentharims, but we lie and tell him we know nothing about them. ## Myrt ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SkQ3h3cn3.png =500x) He also tells us that Neverember has been moved to a safeplace since Harpists and Zentharims are having a querelle and it's no longer safe for him. But apparently it could also be other people close to the Cassalanter's family. We learn that a few dangerous people have gathered outside the city's walls, near Undercliffe in an abandoned farm.They were supposed to storm Mirt's place but upon hearing the news that Reiner has been moved, they probably decided to hold off their attakck. He suggests we move our pre-emptive strike upon the Cassalanters before they reorganise. Upon a patriotic push, we choose to venture forth and beat the shit out of the baddies at Undercliff. We arrive there at dusk so we can take advantage of the darkness. After killing them, it turns out there's more cultists summoning more doggies, and Laggo figures out these people are connected to who killed his mates. Just for good measure, we proceed to kill everything on sight. Laggo thinks they are connected to the Gralhund, while Myrt seemed to think they have something to do with Casalanters. Something seems off about this. ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/Sy-0mR9hh.png =300x) # Session 18 06/09/2023 (Nightal 9th) We go back to our HQ and Vincent Trench has little do to in the morning so he knocks at our door very early in the morning. We let him hin and he starts ranting about the Cassalanters and their connection with the dark arts and necromancy, in particular they seem to have stipulated a pact with the demon Amadeus, the dark lord of L'Eredita' and Sanremo. This might be due to the Cassalanters trying to get back their previous shine in town, with the heir Osvaldopaniccia potentially being the scene. He claims to have seen dodgy people wearing capes entering their mansion,which sounds in line with the entire interpretation. He cannot tell us more as he had to interrupt his investigations to avoid being seen, but he thinks more families could be involved, in particular the lesser ones. He suggests we get in talks with the Grey Hand but without any sort of proof this could turn just a big waste of time. We decide to hire Vincent again to keep investigating the matter. Cnat wakes up all of a sudden and remembers that he can once more query the Stone of Golorr since a day has passed since the last time we did this. Cnat tries his best not to be sued by the lady and she actually entertains a conversation with him. She seems to know already that we cleared out to the farm outside the walls and claims that she's already brought the person we were looking for. We finally meet Reiner, who seems to be in bad shape. We chat with him and mention the Brandat family, which his long-dead buonamamma belonged to. He genuinely seems to know nothing about the mausoleum so we choose to tell him about the pact with the trents at the entrance of the grave. He offers to accompany us but wants to do nothing with the stone after that, claiming that he wants to leave Waterdeep for good. The answer is, the keys are: - [ ] A beholder stalk - [ ] The sunlight - [ ] A gift from a queen We realise it's premature to go to the dungeon, as we have fuck all from the list. We then ask Neverember to send us a paper bird before leaving, and we decide to venture in the sewers to look for the Gazer corpse we previously killed, as we plan to pass its stalk for a beholder's one (or just find an actual beholder, who knows). We clearly have little in terms of ideas, but se surely know what true friendship is. # Session 19 25/09/2023 (Nightal 10th) ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJNSwv1g6.png) we decide to go back in the sewers to look for a beholder stalk. We encounter a group of tugs and kill two of them. There is another Xanathar hideout in the undermountain where we could find some gazers. Laggo decides to write "the merry friends were here" with the blood of a thug. We battle them fiercely and kill them good, then proceed further. We enter another room where we meet a weird dude with a cape, who claims to be a member of the Undertakers. He tells us that the Xanathars hide in the Southern part of the maze instead. Part one is complete. We then start thinking about the next items - sun light and a queen’s gift. Sunlight could be summoned with Sunlight (which we need level 5 to cast). # Session 21 09/10/2023 (Nightal 10th) We decide that we're gonna go back outside of the undermountain to obtain a few spells that are going to help us with our main quest. Once we emerge from the underdark, Laggo performs one of his sweet-worded numbers and advertises Trollskull manor to the clientele. We go talk to Jalester Silvermain about having found proof of Xanatars presence in the underdark. Laggo show the spectator's stalk to Jalaster. He needs more proof but he is happy with our service to the Lord's Alliance and Waterdeep. Because of this we don't get more reward. Jalaster is friend with Laeral Silverhand, Waterdeep's open lord (after Neverember left). Nothing comes to mind as Kings and Queens are rare in the Swordcoast nowadays, but we think we may go to the cemetery and ask for ancient burried queens. We also realise the plan of talking to a Queen bee is possibly a no-go, since speak with animals requries them to be rather intelligent (bees just ain't) but finding a Spider Queen may be a viable options too. We then decide to split - Laggo, Cnat and Saveriovok will go to the city of dead to talk to Valen Rudor, Brodomir and Jorg Jamel will go to Southerward to talk to the 'Alpinists', or whatever the fuck they're called here. We don't that know they are but can presume so as they seemed blackened by soot and smoke and remind us of what was described by Amat Sersent. The person invites us in, we politely decline and ask about Spider Queens and whatnot. They find out a bunch of stuff (which Tanc needs to be filled in on) amongst which the idea that the Ettercaps follow a social structure similar to aracnoids, meaning they possibly have queens, and being humanoids they may be easier to have a bit of a chat with. Seems the most viable solution here is Ettercapps, the forest is 1 day walk from Trollskull. Cnat finds out from Volo’s book that these creatures are dumb as shit, very strong, clmb on webs like spiders and attack with claws and fangs. Often they keep spider pets. All in all they are not massively dangerous, and we don't find out much about their social structure other than they can be dominated by super clever spiders or they can elect leaders on certain occasions. He uncovered an unsettling truth, they are trying to collect a large sum of money, as an offer to Asmodeus. They are therefore involved with a secret cult. The figure is in the thousands of dragons, to be collected by the end of the year (30th Nightal, their twin sons birthday). They came to know about a huge amount of dragons, hidden in a secret vault.
