After talking to them I realized I don’t like needing to compete with my colleagues over the same client. #### V#2: `+/-` If I’m doing something that doesn’t yield result, I’ll quickly ask for help and make changes. If it’s something I’m interested, I am very determined to deliver, however if it’s something I’m not interested, I’m not very determined. For example routine data entry, reimbursement, I really don't like that so I can't say I'm determined to file receipts. #### V#3: `+` I’m quite opened to receive feedback and I’m also quite direct. I think I'm also observent enough to undestand each person's communication style. My boss doesn’t like ppl pointing out his mistakes during meetings so I will first find a time that he’s more relaxed to feedback to him and when I do this, I'll let him know "I think we can try some other approaches, what do you think?" #### V#4: `+` I like to learn and I like to try new things. I like to read a lot of books about consulting and business, I also find it quite interesting to learn from other people. ### Value 1 Interview Notes ### Value 2 Interview Notes (Caroline to clean up) Difference between t1 and other Smaller scale company Flexibility and freedom higher Bottom up initiatives Good learning SW know-how, difference Market positioning more flexibility, not as much complicated process. Might have some human error. Tried to divide these tasks into smaller tasks so I can focus and work more efficiently. Doesn’t like repeating things or doing things I don’t know why I’m doing. - What would you do if you are assigned a task you don't understand why? If I don’t understand why, I will ask my colleagues or my boss about it, usually after asking I'll understand, sometimes it's just some admin jobs that I must do as I'm the intern. #### 2. What is the most difficult thing you've ever learned? How did you learn it (efficiently)? 1. Investment. Started reading books, online video clips. When I exhausted these resources, I’ll ask around. Difficult to track if I have improved. I'll try to debate with my friends who don't agree with me or try to train other friends to see if I understand fully. 2. Brain Science/ History Took these classes in college, I don't know how to track whether I learned it well or not, but I was more able to communicate with ppl who don't think like me. #### 3. What habits or practices have you developed to increase your own efficiency, effectiveness, or learning speed over time? Reading. I realized I need to read constantly to quickly pick up new things. - How do you choose which book to read if you're learning a new thing? I start with the most popupar books and if I come across something that I don't fully understand, I'll find other books related to that topic to fill-in the knowledge. #### 4. What are your most contrarian opinions (that you believe are correct, but that almost no one else believes)? How have you lived up to them? / tried to overthrow the establishment? Public figures don’t need to be held responsible for their actions. I think celebraties are humans too, it's not fair and not reasonable to expect they'll behave just the way society expects them to. #### 5. What would you do if you find one of the company's policies is not good or doesn't make sense to you? My boss has a lot of policies that don’t really make sense, I’ll raise and ask about why. If we cannot agree on what the problem is, I will try to provide proof to him. If we agreed on the problem but he just thinks there's nothing we can do to solve it, I will try to find a solution for it. example: My boss arranged a workshop on the election day. I asked him if he'd like to reschedule since everyone will be going to vote, the attendencee rate will be very low. I showed him there's a huge drop in sign-up ratio now. He told me we can't reschedule since he had already paid for the guest speaker and the venue. I called the speaker and I called the venue to explain and move this event to later that day (after voting time is over), now more ppl can attend. #### 6. Can you tell me about a time you made a mistake at work and how you recovered? During college exam, I thought I was well prepared and only studied in the final few months as a sprint. I ended up failing all the schools on my top list. During freshman year I was really upset by this and I even thought about retaking the test next year however I later realize it’s more important what you learned not what School I go to. My reason of failing this is due to over confidence and lacking enough advance planning. Now if I'm going to plan to study for a test, I will actually ask some other people's schedule and compare to make sure I'm not too optimistic. - What did you do when you realize there's no enough time to study? I study with the best classmate at each subject repectively, took mock quiz first before reading and only focusing on the ones I got wrong. - Would you plan you next study based on doing quiz first? Not really. I think that's just a short-cut, it works short-term, but I think it's still more helpful to understand things thoroughly. So I think advance planning is probably more important. ### Final IV Notes (Optional) ### References | | Name | Contact Info | Relationship / Notes | | :-: | -- | -- | -- | | #1 | | #2 | | #3 | ### Roleplay #### Agenda - Q&A: 10mins - George will play the Account Manager to answer any questions Michael has - Preperation: 10mins - Roleplay: 15mins - Scenario: Your candidate is qualified for all these ios jobs and you know he/she hasn't applied to these roles before (no issue for you to recommend him/her).
