# Style Team Membership
### Member Characteristics
- Not really a membership characteristic, but it's important for T-style to have representation from other parts of the rust org and ecosystem.
- Right now we have a lang team-affiliated person, libs-affiliated, compiler-affiliated, and rustfmt. That should probably be preserved (best effort?)
- General familiarity with Rust (of course not 100%, but needs to be familiar with general constructs in the language, how they interact, etc)
- Relevant to our discussion about let-else formatting, knowing what a diverging expression is, how it tends to be used, etc. inform how we actually decide to format syntax.
- FIXME: How do we measure this?
- General interest in Rust style in general -- not trying to push along any specific agenda item then leave
- An effective collaborator, proven track record of being able to contribute to a shared resource and account for other's needs, navigate conflict and emotional challenges.
- Familiarity with the rust project, it's structure and culture, and expectations upon maintainers
- TODO: What are the expectations on maintainers?
- Consent to the existing principles and aims of the style team: https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/blob/master/src/doc/style-guide/src/principles.md and https://github.com/rust-lang/style-team/blob/style-policy/charter.md
- Ability to be pragmatic over dogmatic, even when facing style/formatting aspect one feels particularly strongly about
- Willingness to seek out/receive new information and change one's opinions
- Ability to navigate charged conversations and evocative commentary (people can get illogical and intense when it comes to their code style, and may be more inclined to drop logic/reason and treat subjective as objective on the topics under the purview of t-style)
- Bandwidth and interest in tracking changes to the language and syntax
- Interest in the aesthetic aspects of how Rust code will be authored and consumed by humans
- Time, energy, and willingness to participate in team activities
- Willingngess to invest time in non-coding activities
