--- tags: Kyle --- # HS-TJ-6.3 ### Theme Family and Redemption ## Rule: People who go into the book take anything they’re holding onto ### Title Mending Her Ways ## Plot ### scene 1 : Ella is a timid girl who lives with her aunt who has a private library. Her aunt tells her to never read a certain book because it will cause trouble, but she is still attracted to it. Ella reads it when her aunt is out of town. She discovers it is a magic book. She can enter and exit the fairy tale land of the book when she reads this book loudly. Ella can choose to enter any scene of the story. ### scene 2 : She is so excited and tells her friends about all of the characters she becomes friends with. She enjoys becoming friends with princesses. Ella has a bold idea because she knows what will happen to each story, maybe she can help the princesses avoid their troubles in the story. ### scene 3 : However, things never go as Ella planned. She steals the poisonous apple from the Queen’s room in 'Snow White'. Snow lives and becomes the queen. Unexpectedly, she is cruel to the people. In the meantime, her aunt finds out about the problems due to the content of all the fairy tale books being changed. This magic book controls all fairy tale books. The children who read 'Snow White' are so scared and can not stop crying. The poster of the 'Snow White' changes into a violent design also. ### scene 4 : Ella feels afraid and avoids facing her mistakes. Aunt finds Ella , tries to persuade Ella to face her mistakes and fix these problems, but Ella refuses. Her aunt tells her what is happening to the current books content: Cinderella kills the stepmother and becomes a villian in the town. Pinocchio can not change into a real boy anymore. He is addicted to playing on Pleasure Island, and does not care that Geppetto is heartbroken at all. All of this is happening because of what Ella did. ### scene 5 : Aunt keeps encouraging Ella to think about the children in the world. The fairy tale land will be saved if she finds the author Grimm and asks him to rewrite the stories, otherwise the children in the world won't be able to read the great stories again. Ella thinks about that whole night and decides to look for Grimm on the next day. ### scene 6 : The next morning, as Ella prepares to set out for Grimm’s house, she realizes that she can’t bring herself to leave home. Her aunt tells her that she must, but Ella is too frightened. Finally, her aunt tells her that they can go together, and Ella agrees. She sets out with her aunt in search of Grimm. ### scene 7 : They arrive at Grimm’s house, and knock on the door. Grimm answers; he is a sinister-looking man, but invites them in and agrees to listen to what they have to say. They sit, and Ella tells him what has happened, and how he must rewrite the stories to fix the problems she created. Grimm says he can do that, but first they should all have a drink. He pours three glasses of juice and hands two to Ella and her aunt. ### scene 8 : Ella’s aunt takes a sip from her drink. Grimm begins laughing, and says the stories are better the way they are now. Ella’s aunt insists he change them back, but then she begins coughing and they realize the drinks were poisoned. Ella, having not touched hers, throws it to the ground and watches in horror as her aunt falls to the ground. Ella looks at the book, and realizes that her aunt might be able to survive the poison in the magical fairy tale world. ### scene 9 : Ella gives her aunt the book, and tells her to read it out loud. Her aunt nods, and they hug each other goodbye. Grimm tries to stop them, but Ella’s aunt murmurs some words from the book and uses the last of her strength to pull Grimm into the fairy tale world with her. Ella closes the book, and then searches the house as she tries not to cry. ### scene 10 : Ella finds Grimm’s paper and pens, and realizes they are magical. She uses them to rewrite the stories herself, adding a new one about a brave woman who protects the world from an evil writer. The fairy tale stories are saved, and Ella becomes the guardian of the stories and the book, vowing to keep the stories the same, lest she were to repeat her same mistakes again.
