# Further information

## Excursion :deciduous_tree: :mountain: :deciduous_tree: :woman-walking: :man-walking: :deciduous_tree:
We plan a group excursion on Thursday afternoon (if the weather is fine): We will [hike through the Ysperklamm](https://www.ysperklamm.info/ysperklamm/).
- Please bring suitable shoes (preferably hiking shoes) and clothes.
- We are planning to hike Tour 32 or Tour 31 (see [here](https://www.ysperklamm.info/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Ysperklamm-WEB.pdf) for more information).

**Going to Ysperklamm:**

Bus 784: 11:26 Ysper Marktplatz -> 11:38 Yspertal Ysperklamm

**Back to the hotel:**

A1) Bus 784: 13:17 Yspertal Ysperklamm -> 13:25 Yspertal Kammerbach
A2) Bus 780: 13:29 Yspertal Kammerbach -> 13:33 Ysper Marktplatz

B1) Bus 784: 14:21 Yspertal Ysperklamm -> 14:35 Altenmarkt im Yspertal Pflegezentrum
B2) 100m walk
B3) Bus 780: 14:38 Altenmarkt im Yspertal Ostrongstraße -> 14:41 Ysper Marktplatz

C1) Bus 784: 15:39 Yspertal Ysperklamm -> 15:47 Yspertal Kammerbach
C2) Bus 780: 15:58 Yspertal Kammerbach -> 16:02 Ysper Marktplatz

Please take care that option C is already the last connection back to Ysper Marktplatz, walking back is also a viable option but takes ca. 1.5h (~7km).

**Entry for the Ysperklamm only payable in cash (4€ - groups of 15 people or more pay 3€ per person).**

## Arrival :train2:

The destination stop very close to the hotel is called "Ysper Marktplatz".

_Due to ongoing construction on the railway tracks between St. Poelten and Loosdorf/Poechlarn there are only restricted train connections until 24 April 2022. We highly advise to not take the bus replacing the train ("Schienenersatzverkehr") to avoid potential issues of missed connections, but to go via "Amstetten Bahnhof" and then take the bus 781 from there to minimise the number of changes (and therefore uncertainty)._

1a) train (RJ 596): 08:55 Wien Hauptbahnhof $\rightarrow$ 09:59 Amstetten Bahnhof
1b) train (WB 908): 09:40 Wien Westbahnhof $\rightarrow$ 10:30 Amstetten Bahnhof
then
2) bus (781): 11:01 Amstetten Bahnhof -> 12:09 Ysper Marktplatz

**Please organize your train/bus ticket by yourself, the VSM will reimburse your travel costs afterward.** Michael (Sedlmayer) will take the train from Westbahnhof, so if you have any questions or want to travel with peers feel free to get in touch ([e-mail])!

## Inspiration for possible topics of your talk :bulb:

You talk can be on any mathematical subject you are interested in.
It does not have to be related to your research at all.

Please remember that the VSM consists of students from all kinds of mathematical backgrounds, hence please make sure your talk is suited for this diverse audience. Aim for around 25 minutes with 5 minutes of questions.

You can also be creative on your topic. Here are some examples of previous retreats:
- The mathematics behind a card trick.
- An interaction of Combinatorics and Statistical Physics.
- A mathematical introduction to FM synthesis, which shaped a lot of pop music in the 1980s.

The seminar room will be equipped with a beamer and a (reasonably large) whiteboard!

## Social Activities :beers:

- Introductory round/games
- Climbing (optional)
- Evening Entertainment:
We have not planned anything special regarding evening entertainment. Feel free to bring along any board games you would enjoy playing.
