# Welcome everyone # Thanks ### - Danielle, our M.C. and team ### - Callie ### - Brogan ### - Leah ### - Cham ### - Hens who helped Thanks to all of you who helped to set this whole thing up. How lovely it all is, so thank you to our M.C. Danielle, her team here at the venue as well as Bev, Stephen, Callie, Brogan and the other hens who have helped set this all up. -------------------- # Thank Guests Thank you to all of you guests for coming. Im impressed that Sarah and Leon have accumulated so many friends over the years. ### I think we only had to bail out two people from jail to get everyone here. -------------------- # Toast Bev and Stephen I’d like to start by toasting to Bev and Stephen who did a fantastic job, ### bringing such a great guy into this world, who is perfect for my sister. ### “what de goat do, de kid dem a folla” ### meaning the parents have a large influence over the children -------------------- # Beer - Can #1 ### Since we have a large Jamaican contingent at the event today, im sure many of you have heard this before, but do you know that when you say the words can and beer together, it sounds like you are saying bacon in a jamaican accent. ### This will be relevant later on -------------------- # typical english wedding This is such a typical Wolverhampton, English family wedding. ### One sister’s partner is part Northern Irish, ### my Brother is married to a Scot who are both here all the way from Scotland today, with their lovely children, ### and my little sister, well she has ended up with a JAMAIYCUN BLACK COUNTRAY GUY FRAM EAST PARK -------------------- # Honour Mum n Dad proud It’s an honour to fill in for dad. I must be getting old now. But Mum and Dad would be so proud to see this. -------------------- # Single ladies with Daddy issues However, any single ladies out there with daddy issues, I’m doing the father of the bride roll today, so come find me later on. -------------------- # !!!!SARAH HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU ARE TODAY!!!!. -------------------- # Memory 1 ### pestering big brother ### dead legs OK enough with that, let’s get to my favourite memories of her. My first memories of Sarah are giving her dead legs a little kid. She just kept annoying me and coming back for more repeatedly. She knew she was going to get it, but liked the idea of getting away with it more. It was worth a few bruises I guess. ### So Leon, I have already beaten her enough to be a very obedient wife for you. -------------------- # Memory 2 - ### no hobby ### Mother training ### living mother dream ### wave to torey & meila ### spends time with friends - a lot of old friends here Second memory is that Sarah always wanted to be a Mum. She was obsessive! Pushing pushchairs everywhere as a kid. It’s as if she has been a mother her whole life. Now she is living her dream with her two wonderful children, Torey and Meila. Give us a wave Sarah never really had a hobby. It was to look after dolls and train to be a mother, and to be with her friends. It’s very nice to see lot of those friends are here today, especially those from her teenage years. -------------------- # Memory 3 - ### favourite sibling My third memory of Sarah is competing with her for the prestigious position of being favourite child to our Mum. No matter how much we both resign to not knowing, I’d like to take this opportunity to say that it’s clearly me. ### I mean I was planned after all. -------------------- # Special relationship with mum ### close to mum until well after 18 ### she never went to a slumber party until 17 - too scared to leave mum ### later she had kids ### mum turned into a mother goose But seriously, Sarah had a very special relationship with Mum. They were very close and out of all of us siblings, she really extended mums parenting years until well after Sarah was 18 years old. She made Mum a real mother goose when she had Torey and Meila. ### How incredible to see our Mum hand on her amazing mothering skills to Sarah and I’m sure you will all agree that ### SHE’s GOT IT! -------------------- # Worried couldnt cope without mum ### now fills that space stronger relationships: ### Leon ### her kids ### Callie ### Bev ### embrassed difficulty of no mum Sarah thought she wouldn’t cope without Mum’s help, but now she fills that space now with even stronger relationships with Leon, her kids, Callie and Bev. -------------------- # Sarah u are Positive, bubbly ### Lift man up ### keep it together (eh cal) ### gracious ### beautiful ### daughter ### Sister Ideal balance of a woman, lift man up, keep it together, gracious, beautiful, daughter, sister Sarah, you are a positive, bubbly, great woman to be around. To me she is the ideal balance of what a woman should be. She can lift her man to new highs, she can keep it together when all around is going crazy (just about), she is gracious and beautiful, and she is the best mother to her kids. Finally, she is a wonderful daughter to her parents and sister to her siblings. I’m sure you will all agree. # Toast to Sarah To Sarah! -------------------- # Welcome Leon Welcome to the Starkey family Leon. -------------------- # Beware of Boys Talk, ### words stuck with Leon I was always worried about my beautiful sister being taken advantage of when I left for university. So Sarah and I had the “beware of boys talk” that older brothers give to their younger sisters. With Sarah choosing Leon, I’d like to think that some of those words must have stuck with her a little. ### And when I saw how much love Leon put into cleaning his cars, I knew, if he put even half that much effort into my sister, she might be onto something with him. -------------------- # Clothes hand downs, ### look better on me You may know that I have some incredible clothes and trainers. Being of similar good looks and height, Leon gave me many of his used clothes over the years. The only time in history that the receiver made the second hand clothes look better than on the original wearer. ### This is how you bribe the older brother of your future bride into accepting you. Well done Leon. ### keep me on good side My fashion might get a little sloppier after this toast but you gotta keep me on your good side somehow eh Leon? -------------------- # Lucky Lucky Guy, ### mans roll, ### both changed for better, ### Sister made Leon best versions of himself ### he did for sarah in return ### great couple example Leon, What a lucky lucky guy…. Good to see him fill in the man’s roll, work had for his family, and im sure he will tell everyone how his relationship with Sarah has changed him for the better, and helped make him into the best version of himself, which he has also done for Sarah in return. They really are a great example of how a man and a woman can complement each other. We certainly need more couples like these two in the world. -------------------- # So far, doing everything right, Leon just keeps doing everything right. What a pleasure and an honour to have you be part of the family. ### I mean, Imagine how worried I was when I first found out that my sister was dating some gangster from East Park? ### But he really has broken all of the stereotypes. ### such a big teddy bear and scaredy cat ### even if u say the word rat he gets scared What a big teddy bear. U should see him run when he so much as hears the word rat, nevermind sees one. -------------------- # Great additon to our family ### polite, ### kind, ### family man, ### puts them first ### always there for them Despite all that, he was a great addition to our family, was polite, kind and got on with everyone. He is a real family man and works hard to support his family . He is always there for them,… No matter what. He puts his kids and his woman, my sister, as the top priority in his life and it’s truly a pleasure to see. -------------------- # parents passed away, ### my responsibility to support Sisters ### Not anymore Leon, now she is yours, good luck Once our parents passed away, I felt a huge responsibility to make sure our family, especially my sisters will be OK in life, especially financially and emotionally…. As good big bro’s do. But not anymore, You got that one now Leon. Sarah handed over. Enjoy it. Good luck. -------------------- # mum changing sunday roast ingredients, ### Late - in Leon's own time, ### so i used to rob croquette potatoes ### better now im not home so often -------------------- # Leon Doesn't eat pork, ### separate cooking, I want to give Leon some support though, as I hear there are some doubts about his pork consumption. I’d just like to say that our Mum used to always cook the whole families’ pork completely separate to Leon’s food. He really doesn’t touch the stuff. ### BEER CAN #2 ### I’d like you all to join in for another toast with me to help me with something. I would like to focus around the word CAN, to support the possibility of the bride and groom making such a great future together with their young family. So, when I say THEY you say CAN They; CAN They; CAN He; CAN He; CAN She; CAN She; CAN Yes They; CAN Yes They; CAN Beer; CAN Beer; CAN Beer; CAN ### See Leon, I heard you get a lot of stick from friends and family about eating bacon in secret, and now we have them chanting for the stuff in a Jamaican accent at your wedding. -------------------- # Sarah, Its an honour in place of dad It’s truly an honour to give you away Sarah in place of our Dad, as your oldest brother. ### I as well as everyone here truly love you very much -------------------- # they say pass on wisdom ### jamacian proverbs They say you should pass on some quotes of wisdom to the newly wedded couple, so I’ll finish with a couple of Jamaican proverbs, ### been as Patois is our second language in Wolverhampton. # Quote 1 “DAAG wi too much owner sleep widout bone” ### This Leon, is a Jamaican way of reminding the groom to be faithful to his wife... # Quote 2 - Remember; “Man widout __wife__…. Is like kit-chin widout __knife__” I think that is fairly self-explanatory. -------------------- # Toast To "Sarah and Leon, ### I would now like to raise a toast from us all to the bride and groom, wishing them a happy life together with their wonderful children. ### “To Sarah and Leon, To their love and family”.
