## What's your name and where do you come from?
* Alex Coleman, Research Software Engineer, background in Molecular Virology, then computational analysis of police free text data using natural language processing.
* Sandy Rodger - no background in data management but have seen R demonstrated before. Never really graduated beyond Excel!
* Lucy Whitley, Water PhD student, background in humanitarian response and Human Biology. Never used R but looking forward to learning..
* Ruth Sylvester - background in chemistry, WASH msc, no coding experience but interested to learn!
* Bushra Hasan, Water and Sanitation PhD student, background in urban planning,used R studio before, but can't remember how to use it, here to learn how to code!
* Katie Allen - Background in Environmental Sciences. Used RStudio in my UG 3rd year but veeeery rusty
* Leonie Hyde-Smith - I did the R introduction in April but I have some more specific questions. Might have to step in and out.
* Georgia Hales - WASH PhD Student, background in Civil and Environmental Engineering, have done a bit of work on Matlab. It was a struggle. No experience with R.
* Ayan HUjaleh-PhD student, background in civil engineering, used Matlab in the past
* David Galibourg - PhD student, background in water, agriculture an d wastewater treatment. Very little experience with R
* Jemma - MSc in Water and Sanitation. Looking at mapping flows. Done a tiny bit of coding but not R. My biggest small person wanted to know what day it is!
* Amaka- No idea what an R-Studio is,ready to learn. i'll be working with alot of data so i need this.
* Neal Barton, Water Informatics PhD candidate at Cranfield University. I have already used R and completed a few courses on data camp.
* Hannah - PhD student. Background in programme management. Only really used Excel for data analysis, and happy to learn some less clunky methods!
* Bart - PhD Student at Loughbrough University. Some experience with R studio, JASP and SPSS.
## Getting the data
To get the gapminder dataset for todays course you'll need to use the following command in your RStudio cloud console:
```r=
download.file("https://raw.githubusercontent.com/swcarpentry/r-novice-gapminder/gh-pages/_episodes_rmd/data/gapminder_data.csv",
destfile = "data/gapminder_data.csv")
```
## Questions and Answers
Feel free to post any questions you have here or in the Zoom chat. I'll do my best to answer them inline.
