# ResCompLeedsCon Reflections This is just an open hackpad for the organising committee to add some reflections from the conference. - Don’t mute zoom for live stream (managed to mute 3 talks in a row in lightning talk session) - Just run continuous sessions on Zoom, the keynote and separate research portfolio calls and streams provided tricky - Better management of zoom calls, probably worth adding a separate account for managing call outside of streaming device - Give the caterers another number! - One error on schedule (order of day 1 lightning talks) - Probably want a proper afternoon break for refreshments - If all speakers were present would have easily overran (10min talks should really be 4 in a session, end at hh40, 20mins for questions/changeover) - Good/ positive feedback regarding catering & refreshments - future thoughts could possibly be thinking about the amounts of catering & refreshments provided/ required in the view of being more cost effective and reduction in waste (footfall of those eating) - Catering was not delivred on time (no fault of our own or the supplier 'Shine') Future thoughts - catering delivery deadline to be requested for 15-30 minutes before the lunch brek/ service is scheduled to allow the timem to resolve any teething issues. - LH recieved positive feedback from the overall first day and that people were looking forward to the second day of the conference. - There were comments made regarding the lightening/ poster talks, that there were not much variation in the faculty representation; as it was mainly viewed as concentrated around a singular subject matter(s). ## End of conference panel feedback - Conference should run again, having such a diverse spread of talks really showcase the wide variety of work going on - It'd be good to get an external speaker - Initially intimiated by the mixture of topics but worked well as speakers did a good job of more generally pitching their talks - Code clinics were good, would like them to be more regular outside of the conference (people want to know more about Docker etc) - Some good showcase talks would be worth Research Computing (RC) team following up to develop further events (TechTalks or similar) - More cakes! - Be good to get a broader selection of people from IT - Good opportunity to get senior leadership team to come and either mingle or speak to their vision -
