# Greaktown Casino Springs to Life # Motown's newest casino, Grigtown Casino, officially opened on Friday, Nov. 10, amid enthusiastic gamblers and great fanfare. Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer cut a ribbon and officially opened the $200 million Greek Town Casino in front of about 3,000 patrons. Many of them waited for hours to be the first to enter the city on a chilly, breezy night. The 75,000-square-foot Mediterranean-themed casino offers 2,400 slot machines and 104 table games. The casino also offers three restaurants, five lounges, and a flower shop. The Greektown Casino has the largest stage of any Detroit casino in the Apollo Lounge, allowing customers to enjoy both headlines and local celebrities and see special events on a 10-foot by 10-foot projection screen. There's another thing you don't often see in gambling halls at Greektown Casino. That's the window. The non-smoking room has 10 tables, 90 slot machines and a large skylight, with two game areas and adjacent bars and lounge areas decorated with large windows. This is Detroit's third casino opening after MGM Grand Detroit and Motor City Casino.
