# Skyrat Server Rules
## Rule 0: Follow Community Rules
See #Community-Rules on Discord.
We seek to develop a more relaxed and chill atmosphere in terms of out-of-character interactions. As such, we will not be afraid to make administrative actions to remove individuals that unnecessarily antagonize others.
### Be Respectful and Decent to One Another
* We ultimately expect people to respect and be decent to one another. If we spot that you are being a dick or being rude for little to no reason towards someone, you will be removed from the community, as it means you are not able to meet the bare minimum standards of not being a dick.
* Also, be gracious in defeat. If you hate losing, this server may not be for you. We do encourage conflict and action on the server, even if we are a roleplay first server.
* **If you are using artwork that is not your own**, you must acknowledge it does not belong to you in writing. If the owner of said artwork asks you to stop using it, you must comply and cease usage of said artwork from said owner.
### Limits of Server Authority
We are not the Internet Police. For disputes that happen between players outside the jurisdiction of the server and community, we are not able to handle those disputes. It is outside our power to do so. We will also not act on behavior that happens outside the community[^1], unless we believe something illegal has happened or the person being reported is the one calling to attention to it within the community. As we do hold staff in higher regards, a staff member may be removed from staff, as they should be a representative of the community and should be held to a higher standard.
However, if we see evidence of malintent that affects those in the community directly, we reserve the right to act upon it, i.e. plans to harass or bully someone within the community. If we suspect illegal activity, we will report it to the relevant authorities if possible.
[^1]: We have always had this limitation in place, and it has been present in our Community Rules. However, this is being restated as it seems to have been applied selectively by staff in the past. Not only are there matters outside the scope of our jurisdiction, this is to discourage individuals or groups of individuals from engaging in stalker-like behavior. The extent that people will go to achieve their goal is not something we want to encourage, as we have seen people resort to even faking evidence such as creating fictional individuals and even chat logs.
### 18+ Adults Only
You must be 18+ years old to be a part of the community. You will be not be permitted to be part of the server if you are underaged.
If we suspect you to be underaged, you will be subjected to age verification. Age verification will be required under the following terms including but not limited to:
* We have received concrete evidence[^2] that you are underaged.
* We have seen first-hand signs of immaturity and strongly suspect you are underaged.
* You have provided inconsistent or conflicting information in regards to your age.
* You have been permanently banned for **extremely** poor OOC behavior to the point we suspect your age.
**If found to be underaged, you will be banned until you are of age plus six additional months after your 18th birthday. If we find evidence that you have presented a fake ID, you will be permanently banned without appeal.**
Furthermore, if we find that you are unable to secure your computer and that someone underaged has accessed the server through your account, you will be permanently banned for a minimum of a month until appeal with proof that you have adequately secured your computer.
_____
All characters must be 18+. This means they must be both physically and mentally adults. This means you cannot play a 30-year old with the mentality of the child. It is not about chronology, rather it is about being an adult in every sense of the word.
If you are playing a vatborne that came out of the vat as an adult or a synthetic that was just made, they should still be 18+ years old with all the specifications mentioned earlier.
Ageplay is not allowed on the server. A character may not have paraphernalia on them that suggests such.
**Additional Notes**
Short characters, such as a dwarf, goblin, kobold, and so forth are allowed, given they are physically and mentally mature. Please keep in mind that a character does not need to be tall, muscular, or voluptous to be an adult. Variations exist.
[^2]: Concrete evidence means verifiable logs, documented discrepancies, and so forth, i.e. actual evidence. Mere rumor or hearsay does not suffice. This is to prevent bad faith usage and weaponization of age verification.
## Rule 1: The Golden Rule - Act in Good Faith to Staff
Staff members are volunteers that enforce the rules of the server. For the sake of time and to minimize undue stress, they reserve the right to render a judgment and close the matter at that point in time.
While staff members are expected to act in good faith to you and give you a chance to hear you out, they are not there to soak up all your frustrations with the server
If you believe that their judgment is based on a false premise, you reserve the right to contest their ruling later by opening a ticket on the Discord.
Please do not ride the line. Repeatedly riding the line of the same offense will result in a ban. We have notes for this reason. While we typically only review recent notes, if we see a pattern that persists for a long time, we will act on it.
**Example:**
* You have been admin-helped, and they have heard you out. You briefly engaged in a debate with them. However, they have rendered judgment against you in the ticket and have closed it. They reserve the right to close the ticket and move on. This does not give you the right to harass them or be even more argumentative.
* You are also not allowed to harass anyone that has reported you. You are also not allowed to have your friends harass or dogpile anyone involved either, as all perpetrators of the harassment campaign will be punished. **Instead, if valid, open up a #staff-help ticket to launch a staff complaint.**
* You were involved in a dispute on the Discord. Unfortunately, due to the fast-flowing nature of the channel you were part of, you were singled out by a chat moderator and told to shimmer down. Instead of doubling down in the channel, **take a moment to calm down and collect evidence to give the chat moderator further context in #staff-help**, as it may help chat moderators identify the actual troublemakers.
**Ticket Rights and Rules**
1. A staff member's word in a ticket is final. You may launch a complaint on Discord after the fact however to contest it if it is critical enough and meets the criteria.
2. Staff members will provide information to you on a need-to-know basis. This means they will provide the information if it does not encroach on another player's privacy or does not affect the round. However, enough information should be given to let you know the problem has been handled.
3. Be polite and honest when speaking to staff over a ticket. Give all relevant information and avoid omitting information. If we find out you omitted crucial detail, you are liable. Lying either by omission or significant misrepresentation may lead to a permanent ban.
4. If a staff member is unnecessarily hostile to you , please use #staff-help ticket to launch a complaint. Staff are required to be polite given that you have been acting courteously to them and others. If you are hostile, staff reserves the right to end the ticket and may ask another staff member to review the ticket to dish out punishment.
5. You may request another staff member to take the ticket if you feel like they are being unnecessarily hostile to you, but keep in mind abusing this will result in penalties.
6. Do not talk about a ticket or rule infraction in OOC, as this can and will lead to people metagaming.
