# Scenarios
The following things are present:
- The Mayor.
- The Baron.
- Bandits.
- Inferni - working with the bandits and The Baron
- The Gods
- The Colossus
- The preacher
- The town
What are the motivations?
- The Mayor ( Mayor Logan Hartly )
- Help the town
- Get a new deputy
- The Baron ( Baron Ryder Destry )
- Get more money and get filthy rich.
- In contact with the Inferni that is talking to Kudamat.
- The Bandits
- Get higher in the syndicate
- Get more loot and more essentia
- In order to protect the Colossus, they discovered its weak-points so they can protect it better. This has been communicated (( see handout drawing )).
- The players could get this information either by infiltration or through coercing it out of a bandit, or by raiding the bandit camp.
- They are also in contact with the Inferni that works for The Baron.
- The colossus
- Protect the crystal
- Aberrations can harass the nearby towns so people don't get wrong ideas.
- Aberrations can just simply dish out fear. Attack the town. Attack people on the road. And be around as extra help.
- What are some side-quests?
- These things can exist, but the players need to be able to choose.
- Fight: Caravan of essential is traveling to another city and is attacked by aberrations.
- Social: The office building is under stress because of too many people signing up.
- Fight: Clear a nest of bandits from a near-by mine. They have overrun it and occupied it. Once defeated, turns out that they went mad from too much consumption. (( in the future, essentia might turn into a drug ))
- The Preacher (Preacher Rayos)
- He's a Zealot.
- The Preacher is preaching _against_ using Kudamat's power. If he witnesses them using magic, he will attack immediately.
- Eager people are following him now, he has a bit of a flock (( see encounter )).
- They will be offended if Doboz ( the clank powered by Essentia ) tries to enter the Monastery.
- If they play it right ( Presence throw success ) they can get information from him about things (( see character description ))
- The Inferni (Genji)
- Wants Kudamat to appear
- Tries to bribe the Humans to protect the Colossus ( The Baron and the bandits gets news from the Inferni )
- Eventually wants all humans dead
- This session he is only in the shadows, operating from the background
# Intro
_GM: Start a counter at 7. It ticks down every day. "Day"s will be somewhat vague._
_GM: They are already in the city. We already know where the colossus is, since this is the first appearance in Wyllin's Gulch. They already know about the Mayor and the Baron. Let's see what they do. However, the countdown will somewhat force their hand to not stay in one place for too long. This is good._
_BOOM_ a sudden explosion rocks the city.
M: You stand up from your desk and run outside to check on what's happening. You are _immediately_ greeted by Harry. Your second in command.
"Boss, boss." - says Harry wheezing. He has been running for a long time to get to you. Apparently, not in time.
"((Let M talk))".
"It's... it's an abomination. It's attacking the outer walls. It started to tear down the mine entrance. It killed two deputies so far. What do we do?".
L: ((Where are you?)) You hear a sudden explosion....
_As you both run through the city to the place where the explosion is, you both meet in the ally way that leads to the where it happened. Your trusty servant, Doboz, is clanking behind you._
_Before you stands a massive creature or undefined proportions. With arms too long and legs too small, it towers over the mine entrance. It's face is obscured. As it turns into your direction, you hear a sounds like rock sliding on rock. It "stares" into your direction with lifeless, hollow eye sockets and let's loose a shrill sound. It puts down his arms on the ground and starts to move into your direction on all fours._
_You can see blue veins criss-crossing all over its body. It's completely made out of stone._
((After their first successful physical attack)):
_As the bullet hits its body, you can see how chunks fall off of the main body and that section kind of falls apart._ ((Advantage on attacks on the same location)).
Encounter -> freshcutgrasslink
"""After the Battle is done""":
"I have news." - says Harry in a gruff voice, his cigar half hanging in his mouth. His dirty, brown clothing is only someone elevated by the sherif's deputy star dangling from it. It's seemingly a recent addition too, mainly because the previous owner was squashed under the foot of the colossus when trying to dissuade it from attacking the town.
"El Jefe's bandit gang arrived to the colossus. There is... some kind of contraption around its leg. It's weird, because it ( the colossus ) doesn't seem to be bothered by it." (( Let's see if L gets the hint.... If not, we'll have to get back to El Jefe. )).
"((Let M talk about the contraption))".
"I looks like, honestly, scaffolding. I have no idea what it is for. If they are trying to build something on the colossus they would be insane!".
"And the priest was also there, shouting, of course, about doom and the end of days."
((Let M talk))
"Anyways. This aberration was one of its forbearers. We'll have more as it gets closer and closer. I'm gonna go and have a drink after this. Goddamn."
_**EVENTUALLY**_:
Harry leaves, and the sherif is left alone to contemplate their next move.
L and M and Doboz are together. Let's see where they go from here.
# Locations
## Bar
The barkeep is an old friend of L, maybe he can help locate some information for something in exchange. Other than that:
The barkeep is a gruff old Human male. His name is Sam. He has been there for ages, and likes the town, but the recent corruption and the colossus is bringing in almost no money. But the show must go on so Sam is trying to keep his little bar afloat. He is mostly serving bandits, and cutthroats, he knows that. But money is money. And that's how he knows what El Jefe is planning and that he has _some kind of outside help._
## Mayor's Office
The office building is two story building with small stilts holding up a balcony for the second top. On the balcony, two mercenaries with arms folded over their rifles at the ready and fine colts on their gun belts, are looking out over the crowd of people assembling in front of the building.
The Help Wanted money on the colossus' head pulled together some of the town's riff-raff and some fortune hunters and shady looking individuals alike. All wanting the Essentia for themselves. The office building is crowded. How are you going to try to get through?
a) They fire a shot in the air.
- This will immediately be answered by the gunman on the balcony. They will try to shoot them.
b) They try to wiggle through. ( Finess / Athletic throw )
c) They shout that he is the new sheriff ( brings unwanted attention on L perhaps ) ( but if he is fully retired and they don't care about this part, then it's fine. ) _Make a Presence Roll for M._ ( since they might not respect the law )
d) Try to go around and go in from the back:
- They get stopped by the rear entry guards and they have to try and identify themselves. Presence Roll.
_Once inside:_
The office building is full with people writing on various writing desks and instruments. The musky smell of ink, sweat and disappear is in the air. Everyone is working incredibly hard to deal with the influx of people that showed up all of a sudden, wanting the prize essentia. The office is LOUD. Sounds of shouting and arguing are everywhere as people are trying to bribe for pre-payment, increase of the amount, and even threatening violence. The immense heat does not help the situation as the sun is blazing down relentlessly.
What are you doing?
a) They want to help.
They could offer a bit of crowd control, the people would show respect and gratitude in their faces.
b) Go to the Mayor.
c) Do nothing.
d) Complain.
_At the Mayor:_
[[#The Mayor]] is trying her best to keep things running and together. She recently got some good points on a good trade of Essentia. The town is okay with her running things. But her recent offer and actions against the Colossus left some people question whether she has it or not. You, M, who was elected by the Mayor as second in command, have all the confidence that in fact, she does have what it takes to make this town to flourish. She is honest, straightforward, no bullshit matron.
She is trying her best to hide her exhaustion, but the circle around her eyes betrais her working night and day trying to figure out what to do about the Colossus.
"What can I do for you gentleman?" - she asks as you step into here tiny office. For a Dracona of her size (2 meters), the office is only a small room that houses some meager belongings, a small desk, a chair, and some cabinets for papers.
"((They explain))".
"So. I barely appointed you to be our new Sherif, and you immediately put your life at risk and try to defeat a giant walking weapon of mass destruction." - she looks you up and down slowly. "Guess my choice was a good one." - and smiles a smile with a mouth full of sharp teeth. It comes out more like a snarl but you're sure you can read her facial expressions by now.
((Let's see if they accept the offer or try to bargain or whatever...))
_Scene_.
## Baron's Quarters
TODO
## Mines
Expertly crafted huge mines that glow with the bright blue light of essentia. All kinds of creatures inhabit this mine who work relentlessly to mine the crystals and get rich off of them. Because of their sharp glow, it's easy to spot them and very little mechanical illumination is needed.
## Bandit Hideout
[[#The hideout and ambush]]. The Hideout is a series of tunnels and networks underground. The scale is humanoid. Though many kinds of bandits live there from goblins to Galapa to some Fungril and Dwarfs.
The stone is roughly made, some essentia batteries light the way here and there (( since using torches underground where there is little to no ventilation is a disaster waiting to happen )). There is no moisture what so ever. The rocks are dry and almost salty to touch and to smell.
The entire base looks to be built haphazardly in an existing cave system. With some small carvings from experts hands that create tunnels, doorways and some samblance of comfort. The latrines are in another place where stench is rather great. No plumbing exists yet, so excrement is just carried out on a reoccurring basis. And that's how L will spot them eventually ( if he succeeds the throw from a narrative standpoint. ).
## On the road

# The Town
Wyllin’s Gulch - There is a priest that warns about Kudamat. They should probably reach out to him. Maybe even follow what he warns. He could HINT on people following and HELPING Kudamat. And the Inferni that could help him on the Mortal Plane.
Learning this information for _now_ will not help in any way. But it _IS_ the followup for Session 2 maybe even Session 3.
# The Mayor
Mayor Logan Hartly. Looks at least 250 and is an elder Dracona in a loose outfit that is not too flashy, rather utilitarian. She is a boss! She won't take negotiations and is fiercely protective of the town.
If they attack the Mayor, she will just die. She isn't a fighter. However, her death will have consequences later in the Sessions. Possibly in Session Two after the "others" find out they actually killed her. (( I doubt they will kill her though. But just in case... )).
# The Baron
Baron Ryder Destry.
A wealthy factory owner. His is the mining company that leads Wyllin’s Gulch's mining operation. He has a healthy amount of mercenaries protecting the mines from aberrations.
He is no pushover ( if they try to attack him ). He's actually a Tier 2 Solo.
The Baron encounter is here -> freshcutgrasslink
If they attack him.
# The bandits
El Jefe. The bandit gang. They have been operating in this area for a long time now exploiting folks for their money and stealing essentia whenever they could. Their operations run deep in Wyllin’s Gulch. (( L was a member )). This band of misfits works next to the Harlan Family. Eventually, since M & L will flush them out, they will disappear and the next hook in this city will be The Harlan Family.
On the way to the colossus they get ambushed by them. If they keep one alive, they can interrogate him.
Since the bandits are en lieu with the Colossus via the Inferni helping them, they know its week point. See [[#The hideout]] for more info.
# The hideout and ambush
First real battle. With a map and a location. The other battles are probably just impromptu.
Ways of finding the bandit bandit camp:
- Talk to the barkeep and get some hints about a location but be ambushed there and find some notes on the bandits about passcodes and such.
- L tries a Knowledge check maybe because he _was_ a syndicate rouge... DC maybe 15 or higher
- Narrate that as asking around...
- The Preacher heard some back-noise about the hideout as he was there shouting at them before he was driven away.
- Hideout encounter -> freshcutgrasslink
- Rewards
- Information ( weak points )
- Stamina / Health potion
- Weapons?
- Ambush -> freshcutgrasslink
- Rewards
- Information ( there are weak point knowledge at the hideout )
- Stamina / Health potion (optional -> roll for it)
- Dynamite
# The journey
On their way to the Colossus, they will encounter some bandits from El Jefe. If they haven't visited the bandit camp by now, they could probably ask these people about it.
The encounter is a chance occurrence though... so let's keep an eye on that. Also, let's figure out how far away the colossus is.
# The Preacher
Preacher Rayos.
The priest and his devotees. The devotees are normal town's people. Miners, bakers, etc. But the priest is a formidable... bard maybe?
How do they get into a fight with the Preacher?
# The Inferni
His name is Genji.
Motivation is to bring Kudamat out. They will do anything to achieve that. He is _powerful_. So attacking him would result in instant death. (( Most likely won't meet him in Session One before the first colossus falls. ))
A mention of Genji can be seen in the following places:
- [[#The Baron]]'s place if they manage to break in and go through his notes.
- [[#The Preacher]] "feels" the presence of an evil interloper that has connections to Kudamat somehow.
- [[#The bandits]] mention a benefactor with a "devilish smile".
# The colossus
Big finale. Use the environment?
As you approach the shadow in the distance grows larger and larger. After a while you realise, it is no moon... It's a walking disaster that is approaching the town slowly, but surely.
You immediately spot a couple of bandits trailing the Colossus.
_Depending on the Timeline, the scaffolding is either built out fully already or it's still in the works._
What do they actually have if they figure out the weak points? Advantage on the rolls? Advantage on the damage?
The scaffolding gives advantage to climbing checks, however, by day 7, even if they DO know the weak points, they won't get advantage since they reinforced the weak points by then.
(( We aren't counting builders since they are just payed labour and they won't find. Actual oversight is by a handful of people since the gang is stretching itself thin as is. Also I only have three players.... Maybe Horde situation? ))
- Day 1:
- Scaffolding is barely built. Some bandits are nearby. There are no aberrations.
- Day 2:
- No progress.
- Day 3:
- Scaffolding is there up to Torso. There are 2 aberrations in addition to the 3 bandits.
- Day 4:
- No progress.
- Day 5:
- 3 aberrations and Head scaffolding exists.
- Day 6:
- Scaffolding is done.
- Day 7:
- Head and Back weak points are reinforced.
- 5 bandits
- 3 aberrations
If they don't kill the colossus the town is done for.
