# Service for Respect
A way to strengthen a community is through strengthening its currency / token. A way to strengthen a currency or a token is to provide utility for it or sell services for it. The fact that our main token (Respect) is non-transferable does not mean these rules does not apply. We can provide utility for Respect and thus incentivize people to convert what they have into Respect. Some people have money which they can donate, some have time and effort they can contribute. We already have a very familiar and battle-tested process to determine conversion rate for each contribution, regardless if it's time and effort or money - respect game.

One of the ways to bring rewards to fractal community is to sell services. We already have software components created as contributions to fractal, which other organizations could benefit from (ORDAO, Fractalgram). We could sell this software as a service ([SaaS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_as_a_service)) and then share profits (or at least part of the profits) from this initiative with respect-holders. This would probably require a separate business entity, but it could support the community financially.
However, I would argue that we could gain a lot more if, instead of traditional SaaS model (where service is provided in exchange for money), we would provide service to respect-holders, as a reward for earning Respect. So service provider would give you resource credits based on the amounts of Respect you earn. Using the service would decrease them, but you could always replenish them by participating in fractal again.
The financial benefit would come through financial donations being recognized in a fractal as another type of contributions and hence awarded respect (in Respect game or through other consensus processes). A non-profit would be needed to make accepting donations easy as well as a transparent and fair way to determine how to distribute the donations (we could always simply distribute according to respect distribution).
This creates multitude of positive effects:
- Stronger incentive to participate in Respect-game, which leads to more participants, more legitimacy for our consensus results, bigger and more encompassing respect distribution and overall more popularity;
- Since users of services would be respect-holders, the problem of services being used for bad purposes (like storing illegal content) is solved naturally. Users of a service will be aligned with values of a fractal;
- Ensures that development of a service is guided by decentralized community as opposed money. Investors can influence development but only to the extent that respect game allows it;
- Maximizes growth potential from success of sub-communities
- Communities / organizations which grow more will need more resource credits which means they will need to contribute more, which means that the whole fractal ecosystem grows and benefits more and in a uniform way where the core stays strong.
