--- tags: JLU --- # Educator Training Platform This document contains useful outputs from workshopping JLU's Educator Training Platform, one of the platforms they are currently developing. Sections below are insights, questions and text that could be useful to others at an early stage of planning an e-learning platform. ## How Might We Questions 'How might we' questions that came out of exploring a perceived user journey for Educators to find the platform, sign up to it and comlete a course. ### Feedback * HMW improve training courses based on feedback? * HMW encourage feedback from those taking the courses? * HMW capture requests for additional training? * HMW collect feedback on courses? * HMW gain feedback over the course of the training? ### Navigation * HMW make the courses accessible? * HMW give a clear journey for educators? * HMW enable group sign-ups * HMW add features around an off the shelf platform that doesnt support them by default? * hmw allow search or filter of courses (perhaps more long term thinking) ### Progress and Sharing * HMW display progress in an encouraging way? * HMW enable users to share their successes? * HMW provide educators with feedback on their results * HM educators hear testimonials from others * HMW bring course progress into a user dashboard? * HMW assess content to make sure it's meeting the intended objectives? * HMW encourage educators to share the training * HMW promote upcoming training programmes? ### Support * HMW signpost educators to the training * HMW re-engage those who drop out? * HMW quickly respond to users when they run into difficulties, either with tech or content * HMW balance the training with their workloads i.e. length of course/number of hours * hmw integrate login to JLU with login/signing up for courses from an 'off the shelf' platform * HMW share reminders of booked training? * HMW support people who don't pass the course * HMW give educators a good idea as to where the course it pitched * HMW include a "more information/register your interest" feature? ### Payment * HMW provide educators with the incentive to pay for the training? * HMW provide a way for them to prove the value to SLT? ### Engaging * HMW keep users engaged with purely online content * HMW accredit or document educators who successfully complete training * HMW provide interactive elements to the courses * HMW provide balanced content for those who have a good understanding VS newcomers * HMW encourage educators to evidence their training in their school/role * HMW provide educators with the relevant background information to complete the course ### Honest Engagement * HMW discourage and/or prevent cheating * HMW prevent multiple uses of same account ### Misc * hmw deal with updating courses while people are using them ## User Stories User stories that came from features that would be either needed to have or nice to have on this platform. * As an educator i would like to **dip in and out of the course** so that I can complete it at a time that suits me. * As an educator i would like to **revisit key learning objectives** so that I can refresh my knowledge * As an individual with a lot on my plate i would like to **receive gentle reminders about my course** so that I can ensure that training remains a priority. * As an educator looking for promotion i would like to **share the fact that I've completed the course** so that I can demonstrate my knowledge, skills and commitment. * As a busy educator i would like to **jump into the course where I left off** so that I can get stuck in as quickly as possible. * As an educator i would like to **see my progress** on a course so that I can feel motivated to succeed and manage my time * As an educator i would like to be able to get in touch with JLU to **report issues** so that I can unblock anything impeding my progress. * As an educator i would like to **receive a certificate** so that I can show that I've completed the course. * As an educator i would like to **share feedback** on the course so that others see the benefit. * As a school we would like to **share that staff have completed this training** so that potential parents and pupils know we're a welcoming environment. * As a person with responsibility for diversity in school i would like to **assess where my colleagues are at** so that I know how best to plan next steps and initiatives for the school. * As a budget holder in a school i would like **clear payment options** so that we can pay quickly and easily * As a member of the JLU education team i would like to **understand whether the course is meeting its aims** so that I know the difference we're making and how to improve the course. * As a busy educator i would like to **quickly navigate** to the training section so that I can make the most of the time I have available. * As a potential sign-up i would like a **snapshot of the training** so that I understand what I'll be learning. * As a member of the JLU education team i would like a way to **understand how the course benefits people** so that I know and can talk about the difference we're making. * As an educator i would like to **learn (and not coast)** so that I feel like i've benefitted. * As a potential sign-up i would like to **register my interest** so that I can learn more about the course before committing. * As an educator i would like to watch an **introductory video from JLU** so that I can feel a personal connection with the charity. * As an educator i would like **practical tips and resources to take away** so that I can come back to them in the future and the benefits feel tangible. * As a forgetful educator i would like to be able to **quickly reset my password** so that I can get back to learning when I forget my login details.
