--- tags: JLU --- # Week Two Notes ## Beginning to define the routes In the second week, we set out to begin defining some features of the resource database and training platform. The workshop we prepared covered Mapping, How Might We, Need/Nice-to-have-features and User Stories. ## Wednesday Workshop The HMW questions and user stories can be found in the progress section of this document. Focusing on the Educators as the user group but separating the platforms, we ran two cycles of the exercises to unearth details around structural features for each. The mapping exercise allowed us to overlook the journey an educator would take from discovering JLU as an organisaton, navigating through their site, and then the platforms in order to retrieve a resource useful to a class or to learn a skill from the training courses. This was really useful to begin granularising the steps that would help us define what might be involved in the process. The HMW section allowed us to document the big questions and analyse what we wanted to achieve. Theming these questions showed the trends in what was important. In the Nice/Need to have exercise we asked JLU to dump all their ideas for features in the space provided which we then prioritised onto the scale. This scale demonstrates what the platforms would *need* to have as opposed to which features are simply *nice* additions. We found that most features were placed in the "need" end of the scale which might later be reduced and ordered in priority for scope. Finally, we asked JLU to write out the user stories based on the previous exercises and the features we had just articulated. There were loads of user stories for both platforms which will be useful for prototyping later. ## Joining forces We met with the development team on the Monday of this week to introduce ourselves and understand a bit more about each of our roles. Without wanting to overlap or duplicate work, we started to get to grips with what each of our briefs required and went away to think about how we could adapt to make the collaboration productive. ...
