Their original societies were up to the industrial standards of humanity in the twenty-first century, but suffered an ecological collapse from a runaway greenhouse gas effect and climate disaster that resulted in the mass desertification of the equator. The event is known as '*La Teceti Sidorekata*' - '*The Teceti Death Spiral*'. (For a shorthand, it's known as "La Sidorekata/The Collapse"). Climate refugees and the original populations close to the poles form two distinct societies, and one orbital society: - In the north, the *Solasika Tecei Dalasolsi*, or the *Northern Teceti Coalition* (They are also known as Sikalcei for shorthand for both TUS and GalCom speakers alike). They are primarily agrarian and are focused on the survival of their kind, and develop a mastery over ecology to become natural stewards for this purpose. In striving to support each other, they have developed into a socialist society. While they are technically many smaller territories and states forming one large coalition, for simplicity's sake they are referred to as one body. - In the south, the *Tasidado Tecei Rimisado* - the *Southern Teceti Combine* (known as Tasida for a shorthand). They formed with closer ties to Old Teceti and its culture, and developed an immense edge in technological research before dedicating themselves to following under a technocratic society. They are a collection of sprawling city-states and support networks that link outside to connect each other and to use the land around them. Much more united by purpose, they're also being referred to as one body. - In the planet's ring within Teceti's orbit, the *Ren Kirsi Dokesi-Nilas*, or the *Outer-Teceti Colonial Union* (known as Renkirsi for a shorthand) formed from a space colony that would have housed the rich and powerful during the ecological collapse. Formed instead of the construction workers and consultants, they would form a directly democratic-meritocracy. Later on, Sikalcei would be united (unwillingly) with Tasida and eventually form *La Risolrela Teceti Kadasolsi*, the "Unified Teceti Federation" (known in shorthand as Riso-Teceti). - After more time to settle in and make peace with their spacer siblings, they would turn their attention to the environmental devastation and attempt to fix it with an immense undertaking known as *Teceti Sitamireso*, or the "Teceti Reforming Program" (and shorthand as simply Project Sitami). Though they cannot find an easy method of repairing the damage done, the research put into this program, alongside more contact with other interstellar societies, results in the creation of the *Mirosami Siresifami*, or Terraformers Union. - They would later form terraforming companies to offer the same to others in the interstellar community, particularly a company known a *Nanotrasen*, who would commission them for a potentially centuries-long megaproject known as the *Green Belt Project*. ## Timeline #### ???, original estimates at -600 FS - Teceti's industrial revolution occurs, causing a runaway greenhouse gas effect that is never addressed until the climate's collapse. This results in Teceti's global temperature rising, rendering the entirety of the equator uninhabitable. Specialized technology is eventually developed to allow the border to be habitable, but not for some time. - During Teceti's industrial revolution and expansion into space, a massive space colony begins construction and is titled "*La Ren Kirsi*", or "*The Ring*" as an in-progress name by its builders. The Ring's purpose is to escape Teceti's climate disaster, and house the elite and their working parties - the political conflict involving such a colony's existence left it unfinished and only inhabited by the latter. Despite it's unfinished state, many considered it a better fate than living on Teceti's surface. - The combined climate disaster and political upheaval from The Ring's construction leads to a total collapse of Old Teceti's society, referred to as '*La Teceti Sidorekata*' - '*The Teceti Death Spiral*'. (For the purposes of this, it is referred to by shorthand as "La Sidorekata/the collapse"). #### -300~ FS - After La Sidorekata, all settlements on Teceti's equator are left to collapse after it's inhabitants fled the inhospitable conditions. The refugees and general population moved towards Teceti's poles, separated by miles of uninhabitable desolation. This effectively meant population had split in two, and formed their own societies. - The Northern half resettle within fertile lands, resulting in the formation of an agrarian society. Most inhabited the remains of towns and focused on developing near bodies of water for their farms, with only some population centers. Over time, they developed a socialist society to support themselves. - While initially clinging to Old Teceti's national identities, over time these identities eroded and became lost to time. Eventually, the northern population formed a new nation and and identity: *Solasika Tecei Dalasolsi*, the *Northern Teceti Coalition* (known as Sikalcei for shorthand). - The Southern half of Teceti's populace managed to hold on to the advancements of Old Teceti and developed an intense focus on scientific advancement and civil engineering. This resulted in the formation of dense cities for their population centers. - The Southern populace aligned themselves into newly-formed groups much faster than Sikalcei, due to the preservation of Old Teceti cities and families that consolidated power before the climate disaster. During its formation, many decendents of powerful families that maintained influential companies pre-Sidorekata organized into political alliances that mimicked similar policies from the old world. Eventually, these alliances would clash and result in a denial of the old political powers - a new one forming from the rejection and of an interest in development of the future. Technocracy and meritocratic groups formed the *Tasidado Tecei Rimisado* - the *Southern Teceti Combine* (known as Tasida for a shorthand). - The Ring, cut off from all support from the surface of Teceti, banded together to ensure their survival miles above their old home. Difficult living conditions and an uncertain future pressed them into a strict meritocracy. Most of Old Teceti's orbital network and satellites are cannibalized for parts or converted for their use, leaving them truly alone under the belief that the world beneath them has died. - While The Ring was designed to be self sufficent, La Sidorekata left its construction incomplete and unable to support a full population. While various asteroids were brought close for materials to finish the space colony, eventually these were hollowed out create more habitable space for the populace. This expanded into a faction that was formally called *Ren Kirsi Dokesi-Nilas*, "Outer-Teceti Colonial Union" (known as Renkirsi for a shorthand). #### -204 FS - Settlements of Tasida and Sikalcei closer to the equatorial desert report strange anomalies over wireless communications and radio frequencies - they are brief and of low quality, but the phenomenon is referred to as "desert echoes". While most consider this the remains of whatever was left behind in the desert, some held the belief that these mysterious broadcasts hint at Kepori who still live within the desert by near-impossible circumstance. - Most Kepori by this point are still of the sole belief that they are the sole survivors of the collapse of the environment, and while the opposite pole may still be inhabitable, they find it unlikely that more than their own groups survived. Many attempts to traverse the equator desert through traversing the oceans that surround the landmass have ended in failure due to the sheer intensity of tropical weather patterns - namely intense tropical storms and hurricanes towards the equator itself. #### -107 FS - Teceti's immediate climate crisis lessens, resulting in the equatorial desert to be crossed. Both exploration on foot and through the air required extreme preparation and equipment hardening to the still-punishing heat and the intensity of the wind across the equator. The lifeless desert awaited the first wave of explorers and scouting aircraft, expecting only the remains of Old Teceti's civilization the only thing to greet them. - As Tasidan and Sikalcei explorers crossed the equatorial desert, they made the most significant discovery: each other. #### -93 FS - Tasida, through an expansion of their communications network and an interest in an attempt to create a network of satellites, made contact with Renkirsi. Sikalcei is shared the news and granted the blueprints in establishing their own means of communication to them, meaning the three factions could now contact each other for the first time in centuries. - Diplomatic relations between the three were opened, and discussions about re-unification started. Renkirsi's tracking of Teceti's ring system allows for the basis of a global satellite network. #### -88 FS - As talks continued however, it became apparent how radically different the three cultures had become. The possibility of reunification became unlikely as the disparate groups realized this, and fell to the wayside. #### -80 FS - Trade begins between Tasida and Renkirsi, aided by their expertise in space travel. - Trade negotiations begin between Tasida and Sikalcei, but fall through due to difference in how the two factions see trade. #### -74 FS - Tasida struggles in the midst of a population boom, their food supplies unable to support the rising population. Due to Renkirsi's inability to export food, desperation begins to erode their ability to posture themselves. - Trade negotiations begin again between Tasida and Sikalcei again for food, but fails once again. This failed negotation would be the tipping point between both factions - one steadfast against foreign influence, the other by starvation. #### -70 FS - Tasida attempts an arranged buyout that would result in the annexation of Sikalcei, but any attempts to do so are rebuked due to a refusal to adapt to Tasidan culture and distrust in the concept of "unification" as a means of control. - This results in a ground invasion of Sikalcei by Tasida to subjugate them - Their goal being 'unification by any means', force included. - Renkirsi, horrified at the invasion and perceived repetition of what caused the collapse in the first place, enters a period of isolation. #### -69 FS - The invasion, while projected to be in favor by Tasida, is slow and bloody due to the logistics involved in crossing the equatorial desert. Sikalci resistance is intense and fierce, having developed an intense desire to defend their national identity. - Anti-war activists lament the waste of resources on the Tasida-Sikalcei could have been better spent forming trade routes, had agreements succeeded. #### -52 FS - The invasion ends with the Sikalci government subjugated. The Tasidan leaders, not content with just Sikalcei, mount an effort to reclaim Renkirsi as well. - However, Renkirsi rapidly pressed mining equipment and improvised weaponry into service and the creation of localized minefields with explosive charges for combat, with the projected difficulty of mounting a space invasion deterring Tasida from formally beginning the war effort. A more worrying projection from Tasida's strategic council is the concept of de-orbiting debris from space downwards onto Teceti itself - a grave, last resort. - The Teceti political sphere stood at an uneasy peace at this point. The scars of the war left many Tecetians wary of war, which persists to this day. With Sikalcei effectively subjugated, the Sikalci people are left bitter and jaded from making contact with their lost sibling nation. #### -49 FS - A 'unified' government is set up, forming *La Risolrela Teceti Kadasolsi*, the "Unified Teceti Federation" (known in shorthand as Riso-Teceti). Tasida retains most autonomy and political power. Sikalcei has much less political power involved, and meets the arrangement with derision. #### -20 FS - While experimenting with Bluespace-reactive material, scientists on Renkirsi make first contact with Kalixcis. While unable to travel between their systems just yet, this is a monumental step in both societies' technological abilities. - This also means that the galactic community's first introduction to Teceti is Renkirsi, and results in a poor impression of Tasida - the recent history that included the conflict that unified the planet being a main topic during the first few moments of contact. #### -5 FS - *Teceti Sitamireso*, or the "Teceti Reforming Program" (referred to as simply Project Sitami), is created within Riso-Teceti as a precursor to modern terraforming techiniques. - Project Sitami's original focus was the reconstruction of Old Teceti's climate, with Teceti's equator as the starting grounds for experimentation. - The missing link involving Project Sitami's progress involved Sikalcei's knowledge of ecology and practices of natural stewardship, which was never replicated by Tasida's agricultural efforts. #### 1 FS - The leaders originally behind the war effort for the invasion of Renkirsi are replaced as time goes on and the effort is never realized. Renkirsi's own council members eventually lower the war-readiness of the colonies. - With the change of command, Renkirsi-Riso-Teceti diplomacy begins. #### 3 FS - Trade routes are reopened and the construction of a space elevator begins after successful diplomatic efforts between Riso-Teceti and Renkirsi. - Renkirsi also gains seats in the Riso-Teceti's parliament, while still retaining independence. - As tensions still linger between the Tasida and Sikalcei, Renkirsi agrees to act as a mediator between the both parties. Despite initial perception of Renkirsi's involvement being seen as a foreign influence, this reputation would pass as they help with landmark passages of law that would see both parties as equals. - Despite this, Sikalcei still has disproportionately little power in the unified government. #### 26 FS - As contact with Kalixcis becomes more frequent, implications of civilizations outside of Teceti takes hold. Fiction about life in the stars and out-of-system space travel starts to appear rapidly. - Ideas about colonizing distant worlds become widely discussed in scientific circles - the creation of colony ships becomes a hotly debated topic. Project Sitami gains more public attention as the proposed technology could also be used to terraform other planets. - This space frenzy was not as prevalent in Renkirsi, as this was the reality of their living situation for the past 300 years (sans Project Sitami). - With Renkirsi's expertise in space travel, several other stations started construction in the outer Reki System. Notably, Renkirsi's experimental doctrine of colonizing other planets through orbital facilities, rather than on the surface itself. #### 36 FS - Project Sitami's initial terraforming machines and techniques are completed. Serving as the testbed for these unproven methods, 100 acres of equatorial Tecetian desert was selected. The first results troubled all three factions; while initial expectations were a return to Teceti's original ecosystem, they were met with the fact that the passage of time ensured that there would be no return to the tropics of Old Teceti. Most ecological data regarding Old Teceti's ecosystem was lost to time, and the remains formed only fragments of the complex ecosystem that once existed. With the grave news that the planet itself was scarred in a way that could not be simply reversed, the the project remained to continue for the next thirty years before the final result reaffirmed them. The project halted on Teceti, and instead was re-aimed to the planets in the their system. - Notably, The Kalixcian faction known as the URFZ takes an interest in Project Sitami's progress, but any attempts at aiding their research fail to manifest due to the URFZ's distance and political position. #### 44 FS - Tasida pulls out their peacekeeping military presence from the Sikalcei, granting them much greater autonomy. With the threat of imminent conflict kept at bay once again, a brief moment of relief passes through Sikalcei. #### 50 FS - Sikalcei's disproportionately low representation in Riso-Teceti's parliament is formally registered as a complaint, but is ignored until Renkirsi backs them and creates a movement for equal representation. - Tasida pushes back against this by sending troops to strong arm Sikalcei's government, but Renkirsi responds with equal military presence to Tasida to discourage them. - Neither side is willing to engage in an armed conflict, and the military presence is lifted before the movement is passed. #### 80 FS - The first exploration ship from Kalixcis arrives at Teceti. The fact it docked at a location in Renkirsi and never set foot planet-side is not lost on the general public. Any attempts at protest from Tasida and Sikalcei are quieted for the sake of appearances of the first arrival of true extraterrestrial life. #### 150 FS - Trading with Kalixcis begins, with the wave of truly exotic goods flowing into Teceti. This sparks a cultural revolution of Teceti-Kalixcian art and culture exploration, though the first wave of travel to Kalixcis was yet to occur. #### 199 FS - Tasida and Sikalcei formally centralize entirely, effectively uniting the two as Riso-Teceti. This is widely considered a key event in peace being maintained on Teceti and the prevention of Old Teceti's mistakes, and a holiday is formed. Renkirsi stays independent, despite the offer of unification and a formal "homecoming". #### 250 FS - Solarians, making first contact to Kalixcis, is relayed to Teceti. Another alien society found, the implications of an even wider and more populous universe seeds new thoughts on the future of Teceti on a grander scale. Project Sitami is considered more of an imperative for the future of Kepori, and more resources are dedicated to the honing of the still-infant research of terraforming planets. #### 310 FS - Project Sitami's technical documentation is granted to a set of terraforming companies after consistent interest by multiple parties beyond Teceti. The first of these companies is known as *Mirosami Siresifami* - the Terraformers Union. #### 369 FC - Project Sitami's advancements lead into Riso-Teceti's major breakthrough into interstellar society. Other companies split from the Terraformers Union to terraform planets to fuel the expansion of Riso-Teceti, as well as other spacefaring nations. - The first wave of terraforming projects are seeded in the name of Riso-Teceti around this time, but would take many years before they could be habitable for Kepori without protection. Renkirsi is prompted on the idea of vacating their asteroid homes to live elsewhere, but the cultural identity of being true "spacers" results in this concept simply never materializing. #### 390 FS - With the Frontier becoming a Nanotrasen-majority space, the rapidly growing corporation develops an immense commission for the terraforming companies of Teceti - the creation dozens of terraformed planets for the megacorporation to utilize. This becomes known as the Green Belt Project, and would be projected to last for the next century before the Inter-Corporate War would begin. #### 497 FS - The events of the Inter-Corporate War results in a mass hiatus of the Green Belt's remaining planets that were ultimately left incomplete, and the resulting ecological devastation caused by Nanotrasen and the Syndicate provokes a broad renouncement of both sides of the conflict. The prevalence of destroyed planets and the designation of planets for industrial waste disposal is a sore spot for the terraforming companies to this day. Riso-Teceti formally condemns the creation of disposal worlds soon after its discovery, and sanctions are placed upon both corporations.
