# Ships in Shiptest
###### tags: `Deprecated` `Design`
Basically just how shuttles work in WS but with a few extra things that are important for Shiptest.
### Engines
- Provides thrust, requires fuel
- Currently 3 kinds in WS code: Ion engines that run on electricity, Plasma engines that run on plasma gas, and Explosive engines that run on TTVs
- Thrust depends on mass of the ship and current engine power
- Fuel consumption rate depends on the current engine power
### Core Bulkhead
- Central bulkhead, semi-abstraction of the ship's integrity as a whole.
- Can be repaired directly through an incredibly slow process that requires a lot of metal and welding fuel.
- Can be upgraded to improve durability, certain upgrades will increase the ship's mass significantly.
### Shield Generator
- An optional component that comes standard on most ships, with a few notable exceptions.
- Requires a source of power to remain online, has a built-in battery.
- Will absorb hits as long as it remains operational. Hits taken will consume electricity directly.
- The built-in battery cannot charge while shields are up.
- If all power is drained from the shield generator through damage mitigated, then the shield generator overloads and needs to temporarily shut down for an extended period of time.
### Armor Plating
- Armor plates, non-essential chunks of durable material that can tank most ship weaponry with ease.
- Has their own integrity value that goes down as it's fired at.
- Can be repaired similarly to the core bulkhead.
### Weapon Mounts
- Special structure with gyros that are able to fit ship weaponry. Different kinds of weapon mounts exist for different kinds of weapons: Energy, ballistic, missile.
- 2 kinds: turrets and hardpoints. Turrets have a set arc they can turn while in combat, hardpoints cannot turn at all but have reduced recoil.
- yes i am stealing my ideas directly from starsector how could you tell
- Energy mounts require power directly.
- Ballistic mounts require a small amount of power and ammunition.
- Missile mounts require ammunition.
