# The Great Planetoid Feedback Doc ###### tags: `Deprecated` `Discussion Notes` Place thoughts here and mark your name down next to them (you dont need to do the second part but it makes it easier to see who thinks what) Terg: can we also just honestly put something in place that makes it so fauna can't go near your ship or whatever. when someone codes it - zeta ## Volcanic Planetoids So I think that the volcanic planetoids are honestly too easy for what they are? watchers aren't exactly a threat if you have any ranged weapons, legions aren't either - zeta ehhh idk if you get swarmed by legions they can be a huge problem if you don't run the hell away or something. watchers though yeah they're basically a non-threat - terg true, there's nothing you can really do about that other than bringing more hands - zeta For watchers, we could probably upgrade their icebeams to something more threatening. Upping their temperature damage makes them ridiculous, so let's not do that. My proposition was to make them snare or legcuff you if you get hit. - zeta ## Frozen Planetoids i'll tl;dr what was said in the discord - terg - Ice Whelps are too damn strong and too damn common, they breathe fire too fast, can see you from beyond your view range, and their fire breath outranges a base PKA. Their fire breath is also a DEATH SENTENCE because you're gonna be wearing insulated clothes guaranteed. I get that killing five of them gets you drake armor but that doesn't excuse them being bullshit. - Wolves' knockdown is actual bullshit, it's barely telegraphed and comes out like instantly - Whyyy can the portal just spawn a buncha projectile-resistant syndicate simplemobs - Every fauna is like impossible to just run away from they're SUPER aggro - oh yeah also the bullshit slips that you need to get noslips to render a non-issue, can't even walk over them or remove them - Just in general endgame =/= bullshit. please nerf wolves.- neo ## Desert Planetoids needs something to differentiate them from volcanic planetoids - zeta ## Jungle Planetoids i am literally begging you just put SOME kind of mobspawn on them -Erin a way to get glass might be nice idk - terg there is a way to get glass already its just really obscure -zeta ## Large Asteroids (yes they count) they dont even have ruins!!!!! - neo in regards to above: this is like, fully intentional. asteroids are just a mostly-peaceful resource farm with not too many mobs, and thats fine. -erin as an aside: i would be fine giving asteroids ruins as long as the general threat level of the asteroid is respected. I tried adding ruingen to asteroids but I couldn't manage because asteroidgen code is just too far beyond me. - zeta # Planetoid Guiding Design This is intended to lay out what you should keep in mind when designing things for planetoids. A planetoid has many parts and they need to be considered when touching other parts. ## Let's Begin ### Fauna These are the most important parts of planetoids as they are the primary threat for most planetoids and usually the most interesting part about planetoids. **If your fauna suck, then your planetoid will suck.** So what makes good fauna good? Let's take a look at by far the most common one: the Goliath. --- The goliath moves slowly and has consistently timed movements, but strong melee attacks. This makes melee fights possible to do without getting hit at all. However, the goliath additionally has a ramming attack which will make it charge in one direction and hit you unless you move out of the way. The tentacle snare attack of the goliath will stun you if you don't move out of the way of it. Because of the shape of the attack, you will always be able to move out of the way of it regardless of movement speed (unless you are cornered or in a tight corridor) which makes it important to pay attention while kiting the goliath. The tentacle snare is additionally telegraphed in a noticeable way (the flashing eyes of the goliath). In short, to fight a goliath, you need to be vigilant and constantly on your feet. Watch for telegraphs for the ram charge and the tentacle attack and keep the rhythm of the goliath's movement in mind and you will be able to kill a goliath with a spoon. ---
